Translation Notes
- (*1) As in EE the word used here 秘蹟 means sacrament (more commonly writen as サクラメント) but doesn't make sense considering its meaning in the Catholic Church since their sacraments have a fixed number. The individual kanjis 秘 (secret) 蹟 (remains) seem to be closer the Eastern Orthodox Church's idea of Sacred Mystery both in meaning and in the freedom of the concept. In ABK/AA both the Blitz Motor and Resurrection are treated as "Sacraments". [1]
- (*2) Assuming this is her real name I opted for the female dutch name "Merel" which is spelled メレル (every online dictionary spits out the footwear brand name Merrell). As for her last name ランバス the one that keeps popping up is "Lambuth", that coincides with the many other Methodist references already in the game and along with the Pope mentioned here makes the Holy Club an even bigger religious salad. - (*3) Akatsuki's hiding place, Aokigahara (青木ヶ原) also known as the Sea of Trees (樹海 - Jukai) is a dense forest on the northwestern flank of Japan's Mount Fuji. Some 6 kms. to the south of the forest lies the Fujigane (富士ヶ嶺) Plateau an area populated mainly by farms where the fight against Fritz takes place. [4]
- (*4) The original text here uses カーサ spanish: casa (house).
- (*5) Here Anonym refers to Mycale/Perfecti as 黒衣 (kuroko) (1) stage assistant dressed in black (in kabuki); stagehand; prompter; (2) behind-the-scenes supporter; string-puller. So you could say a puppeteer, "the one dressed in black pulling the strings from the shadows", I used "Cult Leader" to simplify it but perhaps there's something more appropriate.
