Story

Background

She is the founder of the heretic Perfecti Cult and the current commander of Gesellschaft.

She has been repeatedly reincarnating since the Middle Ages, operating from the shadows in order to fulfill the cult's dearest wish. (from character selection screen)

Introduction

 The heretic Perfecti Cult amassed a major force in Southern France. (*1)
 In that unusual and strict culture
 those who attained the truth were called Perfecti,
 even if their body died they could resurrect in another person.

Stage 1 - Marilyn

China's largest mafia, the Black Hand,

Perfecti tracked down one of their members and said:

"There's something I want to ask..."

there a company agent going after the Blitz Motor stood in her way...

A nun was trying to stop Perfecti from heading to Tibet,

she was an Armed Inquisitor on a modern era "Witch Hunt"...

 You are Mycale's real form... the witch of the Middle Ages... Perfecti...

 To us Perfectis the body is a temporary container.
 It's no more than a prison to keep the spirit tethered.

 Murakumo:
 Such prattle... I too have mastered the Perfecti's principle of reincarnation.
 I have no more need of you...

Translation Notes

• (*1) 南仏 (Nanfutsu) also known as "le Midi" in French is an area in the South of France that corresponds in large part to Occitània. [1] [2]

• (*2) Kanae is assigned to the Ground Staff Office (陸上幕僚監部) abreviated here as 陸幕 (Rikubaku), so I used the equivalent acronym. The GSO is a special agency of the Ministry of Defense that commands the GSDF. [3]

• (*3) Akatsuki's hiding place, Aokigahara (青木ヶ原) also known as the Sea of Trees (樹海 - Jukai) is a dense forest on the northwestern flank of Japan's Mount Fuji. Some 6 kms. to the south of the forest lies the Fujigane (富士ヶ嶺) Plateau an area populated mainly by farms where the fight against Fritz takes place. [4]

• (*4) Warten (ger: to wait). In some of Fritz's speech he uses a German word.

• (*5) From ancient Greek πνεῦμα meaning "breath" also used in a religious context for "spirit" or "soul". [5]

• (*6) Hlidskjalf is the high seat of Odin that allowed him to see into all the realms. [6]

• (**) The Perfecti Cult founded by Mycale is heavily based on Catharism in many of its principles and beliefs. Originated in Southern France (the Languedoc region) in the middle of the 11th century, Cathars believed in two gods: one the good god, the creator of the spiritual realm and the other an evil god (refered as Satan or Rex Mundi) creator of the physical world. [7]

The spirit was of utmost importance to the Cathars and the body and the world were considered tainted by sin. In order to ascend to the spiritual realm one had to renounce the material self completely, until one was prepared to do so, their souls would be stuck in a cycle of eternal reincarnation, condemned to live on the corrupt Earth.

Those who followed a lifestyle of extreme austerity and renunciation of the world were considered "Perfect". The Perfecti were the Cathar spiritual elite, highly respected by many of the local people, leading a life of austerity and charity. [8]

These beliefs were considered heretical and the antithesis of the Catholic Church which led to the Albigensian Crusade (1209–1229) initiated by Pope Innocent III to eliminate Catharism in Languedoc. This was followed by the instauration of the Inquisition that completely eradicated the Cathars in 1350. [9]
