Story
Dane Whitman adopted the mantle of Black Knight from his uncle, after inheriting his castle from him and coming across the Ebony Blade. Though the name Black Knight had been used for evil in the past, he reformed it, gaining the trust of the Avengers after helping them defeat Kang the Conquerer. During the events of Operation Galactic Storm, he fights to prevent the detonation of the Shi'ar's Nega-Bomb, a weapon capable of razing entire star systems.
Gameplay
One of the four normally playable Avengers characters in Avengers in Galactic Storm, Black Knight's ideal game-plan is to rush the opponent down. With his suffocating short-hop pressure, quick dash that can low profile regular projectiles, as well as a projectile reflector in Sword Parry, some opponents can have a very difficult time keeping the swordsman out. Which is good, because out is absolutely where Black Knight never wants to be.
Strengths |
Weaknesses
|
- Solid and far reaching normals that make for good pokes, 2A being a far reaching, relatively fast low-hitting normal that links into itself is a particularly useful tool to have.
- Great anti air ability with the best DP in the game.
- VERY deceptive crossups from short hop j.C and j.2B.
- Short-hop pressure in general can be particularly oppressive thanks to his small hurtboxes, further enhanced and complimented by his 2A providing a threatening low in tandem with the overheads during his short-hops. This alone can make him a nightmare to deal with for certain characters.
- Lowest crouch in the game and can be rather tricky to hit.
|
- Only has two cancellable normals and cannot cancel into assist or super.
- Further exaggerating this are both normals requiring Black Knight to be very close the opponent, something he can't always manage (Or even want to begin with, depending on the matchup).
- Unsafe specials that may cost you the round if blocked.
- Below average health and damage relative to the rest of the cast, very bad risk reward in some matchups.
