Bloody Roar Extreme/Xion the Unborn

Introduction

Xion is a long-range defensive zoner with strong pokes, in a similar vein to Street Fighter's Vega/Claw. While in Beast Form, Xion gains extended hitboxes on all of his attacks, which grant him amazing reach and priority due to being disjointed. Xion is able to rack up damage quickly with confirms from many of his long-range pokes, and his ability to apply pressure at a range no other character can makes him a constant threat; in particular, his 3B Cancel loop is devastating, as it can easily force the opponent to Hyper Burst in order to avoid taking massive damage. While Xion is excellent at walling out opponents, his options are limited once they get in: his Guard Attack, while fast, doesn't have much armor, and his low health value means he dies fast. Despite these drawbacks, however, Xion is a very powerful character.

Pros Cons
  • Unparalleled Poking: Xion has some of the best ranged pokes in the game, many of which become even better in Beast Form due to their disjointed hitboxes. This gives him an exceptional ability to wall out opponents and pressure them from a distance.
  • Strong Hitconfirms: To complement his long range, Xion has a great capacity for picking up small follow-ups and even full combos from further ranges, further accentuating his mid-to-long range focus.
  • Explosive Damage Potential: On top of his already quite stable combo game, Xion can dish out some incredible damage with the right starter, especially when his 3B Cancel loop comes into play.
  • Poor Close Range Options: Xion thrives at further ranges, where he can keep his opponent in check. If the opponent gets past that wall, though, he's in trouble — with very little in the way of turning around a defensive situation and starting his own offense up close, Xion has to rely on trying to disengage in order to get back to his optimal spacing.
  • Weak Defense: On top of a quite low defense modifier, Xion also sports a Guard Attack with very little in the way of Guard frames, despite its good speed. This means that Xion will have to be very cautious if he ever gets caught in a tough defensive situation.
