Netplay?

EfzRevival is a peer-to-peer rollback netcode client that fixes compatibility issues on modern operating systems and adds many extra features. This client is only compatible with Eternal Fighter Zero 4.02.
EfzRevival has UDP Hole Punching and IPv6 functionality, so even if you cannot port forward you may still be able to play online. Follow the steps in #Using EFZ Revival to learn how to host or join an IP.
While not always required, port forwarding is still useful. Not all routers are compatible with UDP Hole Punching, and UDP Hole Punch hosts often break spectating. Forwarding your ports will maximise the amount of people you are able to connect to. Forwarding your ports can be very overwhelming if you're not familiar with the process, which is why we have a port forward guide - do not hesitate to ask in the EFZ Discord for help if you need any extra help!
The easiest place to find other players is on the EFZ Discord Server. Although Revival's rollback-based netcode makes for a much smoother experience compared to older netplay clients, it won't work miracles. That is to say: expect lag if trying to play someone halfway across the planet or if you use WiFi.

Using EFZ Revival

It's recommended to first set the name you will be using in EfzRevival.ini. If you want to save netplay replays, make sure to create a folder called netplay inside EFZ/Replay.

Hosting

If this is your first time hosting, it is highly recommended to test your host in the EFZ Discord Server first. This is the fastest way to test whether or not you need to port forward.
  1. Open EfzRevival.exe, press 1 on your keyboard to host.
  2. Find your external IP address and add 10800 on the end. It will look something like this: 67.201.127.18:10800
  3. Send this number to your opponent, asking them to connect.

Connecting as a player

  1. Open EfzRevival.exe, press 2 to manually enter the opponent's IP address or 3 to connect to connect from clipboard.
  2. If the host works, both players will be asked to set input delay, the default recommendation is recommended. (This delay can always be changed during the match using the keys IncreaseInputDelay and DecreaseInputDelay set in EfzRevival.ini (default numpad + and -))

Connecting as a spectator

  1. Open EfzRevival.exe, copy the host's address and press 4 on your keyboard, it should connect as a spectator. NOTE: Spectating does not always work for hosts that are not port forwarded.
  2. Spectators always start at the beginning of the match set. In order to catch up with the present, press Numpad+ to speed up playback. The current playback speed option can be seen bottom left of the EFZ window. 9x playback speed is the maximum.
  3. Once you have caught up (check the bottom right of the EFZ window) press Numpad- to slow back down to 1x speed.
