Setting up

In order to play in Gleam of Force's native online mode, a controller is needed: otherwise online will become unselectable. If you desire to play on a keyboard, external software has to be used.

The main matchmaking server has long been unsupported, so port forwarding P2P is the only way to play online. On top of this, the game requires each player to have a unique serial number. As far as the community is aware, there are only 2 serials publicly known. To use these serials, overwrite System00.dat with one of the two serial files. Once you are done, you can insert whatever you want into player name, location and comments field. Leaving any of these blank will not let you run netplay.

You can find the serial files here.

Common Issues

My game keeps crashing over netplay!

This is usually caused by heavy desyncing, which can occur by doing the following:

  • Pressing ALT-Tab without pausing the game
  • Dragging the game window
  • Open overlays

Negai doesn't appear in the CSS!

Reconnect once for Negai to appear.

The game will terminate the connection!

Sometimes in life, you just have to accept you can't play the best fighting game known to man. If your distance from your opponent is long, the game will stop the connection for high latency. Nothing you can do about that...
