Pros Cons
  • Safety Lock!: Rohan's Safety Locks allow him to limit the opponent's options against him, leaving them at a disadvantage. In particular, his GHA seals nearly every action, leaving the opponent almost defenseless.
  • Good Defense: Rohan is tied for the second highest health in the game. Combined with his possession of a meterless reversal in "I must keep drawing!", it allows him to survive many things other characters would not.
  • Pseudo-Grappler: Rohan has 2 command grabs (1 per mode), both of which lead into great reward: "Your power will be destroyed." seals the opponent's Style actions, while "I won't even give you the chance to speak!" leads into a combo. This forces the opponent to guess after nearly every blocked hit.
  • Strange Moveset: The unique properties of his Safety Locks prevent Rohan from chaining his Stand Off normals like with traditional attacks, worsening his pressure and confirms in general. Stand On gives him access to a more traditional moveset, but comes at the cost of losing his main defensive tool.
  • Stubby Limbs: Because of his unique Stand Off mode, and his attacks in Stand On having less range than average, Rohan has a very limited selection of pokes. This results in a lackluster neutral despite his access to a projectile.
  • Bizarre Combo Structure: Rohan's inability to chain normals into each other while in Stand Off means he mainly relies on links when it comes to confirms. He often requires to use Quick Stand On to access a more traditional combo game, making him somewhat meter intensive.

Safety Lock!

Rohan features a highly unusual Stand Off mode: in place of standard normal attacks, Rohan uses his Safety Locks, in which he rapidly draws Pink Dark Boy's silhouette in the air. The Safety Locks are unique in that they do not trigger counterattacks, nor do they negate projectiles (although they still interact with Super Armor and Auto Guard).

If the opponent touches the drawing, their normal attacks are sealed for a little over 7 seconds, with the timer getting paused if a cutscene happens. The normal attacks sealed correspond directly to the attack button used to produce the silhouette (Light Safety Locks seal Light normals, for example), sealing the opponent's standing, crouching, and jumping variants all at once. If the opponent attempts to use something they've been sealed out of, they are briefly staggered, even while airborne.

In exchange, Rohan cannot chain the Safety Locks together as other characters would chain their normal attacks (meaning chains like 5L > 2M or 5L > 5M > 5H are impossible to perform). Rohan can only use one seal at a time: landing an already applied Safety Lock refreshes its duration, and different Safety Locks will overwrite existing ones; additionally, if Rohan gets hit, any existing Safety Locks will be removed.

Does not include (Quick) Stand On/Off, (dis)mounting, Speedwagon's "Ogre Street", Pet Shop's "Dive", and command dashes. Can only be overwritten by Full Lock.
  • JJASBR Full Lock Icon.png Full Lock: Activated with "Heaven's Door". Seals almost all moves. This includes all options mentioned previously, HHA and GHA.
