Kirby Fighters 2/Controls
Inputs and Notation
Directions are notated using numpad notation, which uses numbers to describe directions in accordance to their location on a numpad.
All input notation is assuming your character is facing right unless otherwise specified.

Walk forward by pressing forward (notated as 6) once on the d-pad, or slowly moving forward on an analog joystick. Dashing is performed by inputting forward twice (notated as 66) on d-pads, and tapping forward quickly on an analog joystick, like in Smash. Crouch by pressing down (notated as 2). Sliding is performed by hitting down and A while grounded (notated as 2A). Other inputs include A for jumping, B for attacking, and Y for gobbling/grabbing.
Like most Kirby games, Kirby Fighters 2 has a float mechanic used by pressing A while in the air. After taking in air, you can puff it out by pressing B. These two actions can be done rather quickly and in rapid succession. You may see it used in combos and strings!
Attacks that can be done while grounded and while airborne have "(Air OK)" after the move's input notation. Examples: Sword's Upward Slash (8B) and Staff's Jab (5B)
Attacks only available when close to/near an enemy (as the game describes them) will be notated as follows:
- c.xB, where 'x' is the direction that needs to be pressed with B. Examples: Bomb's Bomb Drop (c.B) and Wrestler's Lift (c.8B).
Attacks that can only be done while dashing will be notated as follows:
- (Grounded) 66B, where 66 is pressing forwards twice. Examples: Sword's Drill Stab(66B) and Wrestler's Flying Dropkick(66AB, where A is jump and should be pressed with B)
- (Aerial) 66 > j.xB, where 'x' is the direction that needs to be pressed with B. Examples: Sword's Sword Spin Dash(66 > j.B) and Meta Knight's Meta Condor Dive(66 > j.2B).
- Subsequent mentions of the 66 > jxB input may instead be "66jxB", especially in combos where the > symbol is used to denote different parts of the combo. Example: 5B > 66jB > 2B, as opposed to 5B > 66 > j.B > 2B.
Attacks that can only be done with a button held down will be notated as follows:
- B = Tap, or no hold. Example: Fighter's Vulcan Jab (5B), not to be confused with his Smash Punch (5[B]).
- [B] = Hold, or hold for charge. Example: Ninja's Shock (5[B]), not to be confused with his Knife Throw (5B).
- {B} = Hold for longer to charge one level above [B]. Only used for moves with 3 levels of charge, like Archer's (5{B}).
A basic Fighter combo in this format would be listed as follows:
- 66B > 5B > 8[B]
