Overview
Overview

Created by the Zimmad company, the Gyan was a powerful mobile suit with an emphasis on close quarters combat, however it's lack of versatility resulted in the Gelgoog being chosen over it for production with a customized version used by M'quve to fight the Gundam. In EX Revue Gyan is a powerful character, with strong disjointed pokes, great tools to control the neutral and moves bearing a striking resemblance to Samurai Showdown's Charlotte, it can easily end games without much trouble at all.

Playstyle
Pros Cons
  • Strong Neutral: Gyan can use his fast movement, strong pokes and great fireball to take full control of neutral.
  • Has No Lows: Gyan has only high or mid hitting attacks.
  • Low Health: Gyan takes the most damage out of the entire cast, with 2 extra points of damage per hit it takes until guts kicks in at 32 health.

- Mid - - - - - Yes

A quick and solid jab.

cl.B
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - Yes

This attack has a moderately vertical hitbox that could have possibilities for anti airing if not for it's proximity normal status.

f.B
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - Yes

A good button. Useful for mid-ranged spacing, but whiffs on crouching opponents.

cl.C
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - Yes

Hits twice for decent damage. Can also be special cancelled, and is decent in combos.

A solid button in general.

A solid enough air to air

j.2B

Specials

2147x
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - -

Gyan jumps back and launches a time bomb that lingers for a bit before detonating. Very nice move. It also does a good grip of stun, so using it at the end of a combo will usually lead to said stun.

Power Slash
[2]8x
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - -

Long start up flash-kick like move. It starts from the ground and travels straight into the air, but leaves one very vulnerable. Not to mention it has no invincibility at all.

Pencil Missile
[4]6x
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - -

Launches missiles from Gyan's shield. Solid projectile, with the button used changing it's speed.

Mash X
Damage Guard Startup Active Recovery Hit Adv Block Adv Special Cancel
- Mid - - - - - -

Gyan dashes forward and attacks repeatedly with his beam sword. Does fine damage, and tends to be more useful in the corner after something like cl.c to let all 4 of its hits connect.

Combos/Setups

Type Combo Position Damage Works on: Notes Video Example
Combo 2A*2 xx [2]8C Any ? All Basic 2A confirm. Will whiff if pushed out too far by the second 2A. Link
Combo 2A*2 xx [4]6A Any ? All Alternate 2A confirm with a safer but less rewarding ender. Similar to above: pushing your opponent too far out may cause the [4]6A to not combo. Link
Combo j.C > 2C xx [4]6C Any ? All Decent damage from a midscreen jump-in. In the corner you can go for the infinite instead.

Link

Combo j.B > 2A*N Any ? All The most reliable damage you can get from a crossup j.B. You may be pushed out too far to connect with other enders. Good for setting up missiles or time bombs. Link
Combo cl.5C xx 2147C Corner Only ? All Does decent damage and stun. Can be used in the corner loop to stun quicker and look cooler. Link
Combo j.C > (2A xx [4]6A)*N Corner Only ? All The corner loop. 2A xx [4]6A can be repeated until the opponent is stunned and the loop can be started again. Link
