Additional Notes

Puppet Master Jutsu

Kankuro features an unusual control scheme due to his moveset being heavily reliant on his two puppets: Crow and Black Ant. While considered independent entities, they move alongside Kankuro, generally mirroring his movements. Because of this method of control, Kankuro is the only character in the game to not possess Throws at all.

  • Crow, controlled with Strong Attack, exhibits greater control and movement, being capable of dashing, running and jumping. It also posseses a chargeable projectile that covers a large area on activation, in addition to possessing many active frames; these factors, combined with the fact that it can be fired even during other actions, make it a strong setplay tool if timed correctly.
  • Black Ant, controlled with Throw, is land-locked, much slower and has no projectiles. Instead, Kankuro can command the puppet to catch the opponent in its grasp, and in a pinch, can perform a risky counter to switch places with it on a successful activation.

Crow and Black Ant's attacks are always guaranteed to come out once Kankuro has signaled the respective puppet to attack, even if he gets hit afterwards. In return for this disjointed offense, the opponent can attack the puppets, and hitting them will cause Kankuro to lose Chakra. It should be noted that it is impossible for the puppets to experience cinematic attacks (such as most Special Jutsu attacks).

Latent Ninja Power
  • LNP activates at 20% health remaining and grants these buffs:
    • Strong Attack adopts the properties of ChargeStrong Attack.
    • ForwardThrow, UpThrow, RunThrow, and AirThrow gain the Unblockable property.
Other
  • As a result of his usage of multiple entities in battle, battles against Kankuro feature different camera patterns.
  • Under normal conditions (such as console play), matches that features multiple entities on the screen (such as a Kankuro mirror match) will lock the game's framerate to 30 FPS.
  • Kankuro's (behind obstacle) Weak Attack and Strong Attack are his RunWeak Attack and AirStrong Attack respectively.
    • Despite using AirStrong Attack, only Crow jumps; Kankuro himself remains grounded.
