Gaito is a Big body that can pressure his opponent into some of the most damaging combos with little opportunity to escape.
While Gaito is not a grappler, he can still force the opponent to scramble because of his powerful up-close game which consists of safe pressure, unpredictable mix-ups, and the best anti air game in PBO.
A cornerstone of Gaito's game plan is Demon Fall. A hit-grab move that gives Gaito a consistent hard knockdown which usually leads to his oppressive setplay. Gaito has some great normals, from multi-hitting ones that limit guard cancel, plenty of highs/lows to mix-up, And the vast majority of his Normals are safe on block. But one of his best normal is his crouching Light which serves double duty as pressure starter and Anti-air making sure the opponent has to stay put on the defense.
Should the Opponent start to respect Gaito's pressure, Gaito's Demon crusher comes in handy with its ability to wear down opponent guard gauge drastically, leading to guard crush in no time. How ever this move is a gamble since its unsafe in most cases outside of chicken block pressure. In which case he should use his Projectile as a pressure ender.
Gaito is a tough bruiser but his lack of mobility can make heavy zoner suffocating. He can be forced to take big risks when on defense, especially if he lacks the resources to cover his mistakes.
Get in or die trying is the name of the game for Gaito, but it only takes one good read for Gaito to rob an opponent of all their momentum.
Playstyle
Gaito is classified as a Close-Range Power. He's a damage dealer capable of locking down opponents with his Multifaceted normal.
Strengths
Weaknesses
Tank Character: Gaito has easy access to high damage and has the highest health meaning he can take big damage as well as dish it out.
Vortex: Gaito can get hard knockdowns consistently from any hit confirm and has little trouble opening up his opponent too.
Kiai Blast: Kia Blast is slow-moving but very active projectile that covers Gaito approach options. The ex version is multipurpose for being combo filler, neutral skip, anti-air, reversal, burst bait, oki, and pressure reset, it basically does it all.
Anti-air: Gaito has several anti-air thanks to his buttons attacking above him, a projectile that covers jump arcs, and lastly 2H and 2Sp are AUB.
Gaurd Crusher: Demon Crusher has the fastest guard crush ability out of the entire cast.
Immobile: Gaito has no mobility, often relying on super jumps which are vulnerable to anti-air.
poor meterless reversal: any attack with long active frames can shut down gaito defensive option, usually needed ex to moves to compensate.
Poor Resource build: Despite having multi-hitting normal, gaito still struggle to build meter since his combo tends to be shorter than other.
Zoning: Kia blast is Gaito only zoning tool and it gets beaten out by other faster projectiles, while ex version has stronger durability, it's slow, and doesn't travel far full screen.
Style Overview
Can mix-up up opponents endlessly with light chains having repeat and 50/50 in itself. Overclock- can be guaranteed a guard crush for Gaito, and his Lv2 can not be burst out of. His counter burst is on the slower side, making it harder to combo off, and Evasion is a far cry from authentic reversal.
Demon Fall and Demon Sphere get guard points, though their application is still. Protection is good in its own right for reversing momentum. Has the worst neutral of the three since poor frame data and single jump make him extremely linear. Lv2 is a glorified whiff punisher with little return outside of counter-hit scenarios.
Kiai blast becomes wonder as a guard cancel option since it safe on block and allows Gaito to start his own pressure. Gaito stock piling ex lets him become a whiff punish monster thanks to the threat of Ex Kaia blast. Omnia overall makes Kiaia Blast shine, however, it makes Demon Crusher mostly useless since it harshly scaled the guard gauge damage. Furthermore, Gaito loses his godlike 2l pressure on account auto chain disallows rebeates.
