Ren basically had to raise himself because both of his parents were working all the time. Ever since they were little, Ren has had to take care of his little sister Ryo who is sick with terminal illness. As a result, Ren can sometimes be a bit overprotective and is often hindered by worries. He met Phantom while searching for a cure for Ryo, and agreed to become a duelist in order to save his sister.

Overview

Ren is a Close range powerhouse who normally plays footsie, but once in; he can stay in and pummel his opponent into submission. Rens can bully his opponent with venom trigger with its amour and plus frames, mix up with his unique normals and dash attack, along with a throw that he can loop into it self. Having no full-screen presence, outranged by the majority of the cast, Ren is always fighting an uphill battle when it's not his turn.

Playstyle

Ren is classified as Close-Range Power. He prefers fighting up close so he can utilize his throw loops, frame traps, and pressure resets.

Strengths

Weaknesses

High Damage and Stun rate: Ren is able to pump out some near effortlessly and he also cable of stunning his opponent frequently. Decent Rushdown : Having plus on block pressure, High/Low mix-ups, and loopable strike throw mix. Ren's offensive game is nothing to scoff at. Burst Meter Build: Ren grab builds a lot of Burst gauge, and the fact he can combo off it gives Ren an above-average meter gain. Spite Fire: This move has the distinct ability to wear down guard gauge fast, and can be oppressive with proper setups.

Stubby Normals : Ren normals are out-range by everyone, putting him at an immediate disadvantage at round start. No Range option: Ren has no long-range option to contest with zoning, at mid-range he can try fishing for counter pokes with Venom trigger. Otherwise, Ren relies on dash attack and Lighting Edge to help close the distance. Weak Defense: Ren relies mostly on system mechanics when under pressure, having to choose his meter for reversal or damage. Conversion : Ren combo ability tends to be lower and he has a hard time confirming off of certain hits.
