Within the storied family history of the demon-slaying Kumon clan, one stood out as a genius: Shinmei Kumon. Having mastered the Kumon style martial arts at a very young age, Shinmei created a new style: the Shinmei Form Kumon Style. After relentless training, Waka managed to acquire this new technique, but she has yet to fully tap into its potential.

Overview

Shin Waka can be seen as an alternate version of the original whose more focus on aggressive gameplay. Shin Waka has two command overheads in Ryu-en-zan & Tensho-Ryu-ha: one of which is fast but high reward and the other being slower but low risk. Ryujin-ho is tracking fireball that waka can travel behind to supplement her pressure. Shin Waka has some incredible power but at the cost weaker neutral and defensive game, Most notably Shin waka has no consistent anti air option.


Playstyle
Shin Waka is classified as a Long-Range Standard. She use her range attacks to lock down her opponent and subject them to high damaging mixe ups.
Strengths Weaknesses
  • Ryu-en-zan : Waka's fastest overhead to enable her mix up, The Ex version becomes one of the best super in the game.
  • Okizeme: Ryujin-ho and Tensho-Ryu-ha are great ways to keep Waka's turn after a knockdown, the latter having the ability to bypass cross-up protection with proper setup.
  • Range : Shin waka is still blessed with Waka's large normal to apply decent screen control.
  • Meter Dump : Unlike Regular Waka, Shin waka supers can increase waka damage out put.
  • Meterless reversal : Shin waka has to hold most pressure if she is without meter.
  • Poor Anti air : Shin Waka does not have Meterless AUB specials, her ex option doesn't fare much better in that regard.
  • Pressure gaps: Similar to Waka, her chain has gaps that leave her vulnerable.
  • Zoning: Shin Waka's projectile is decent but pales in comparison to most other projectiles due to low priority, rng base tracking, and low reward.
