Gudeath

Introduction

Gudeath is the resident grappler of this shmup/fighter hybrid. Yes, that is a weird thing to write. Gudeath has some pretty overwhelming strengths; arguably the greatest damage potential of any character thanks to his Meteor Butcher command throw (360°+L), which also gives him a scary close game and the most damaging BnB in the entire game. In fact, Gudeath can easily overrun a health bar off of one solid read. His Asteroid Belt (360°+S) install only adds to his damage, surrounding him in debris that gives him more hits in his combos or can be fired at the opponent one at a time or all at once. His Gravity Infinity (466+S) creates a black hole that holds the opponent in place while battering them with debris from all directions, forcing them to Barrier Guard. He even has a great anti-zoning tool with Meteor Hammer (46+L). Unfortunately, Gudeath's weaknesses are just as pronounced with what is easily the weakest zoning game in all of PF2012. Despite multiple zoning options, they're generally quite slow and easy to deal with. Just as well, the above mentioned moves have a significant amount of startup (with the exception of his command throw obviously). Despite this Gudeath is still quite solid thanks to a good Quick Dash despite his weight, as well as the ability to cancel his Quick Dash or Slide Dash into a Meteor Butcher. If you prefer grapplers, this is your man.

Weight Class: Heavyweight
Strengths Weaknesses
  • Best damage potential in the game, can easily shred a health bar
  • Most damaging BnB in the game with L,S,Meteor Butcher (360°+L)
  • Tied for the strongest Barrier Break (200 damage)
  • Despite being a heavyweight, has solid mobility thanks to a very good Quick Dash
  • Meteor Butcher (360°+L) can be cancelled out of Quick Dash. If you prefer grapplers, you know how good this is.
  • Has a great tool for dealing with zoners and projectiles thanks to Meteor Hammer (46+L)
  • Utterly awful at zoning in a game where everyone is a zoner
  • Big hitbox means it's harder for him to avoid things
  • A lot of startup on most of his PSY moves
  • Meteor Hammer can be easily countered with a Quick Dash on reaction
