Story

Absa is a famed engineer and secret martialist of the Elders of the Air Alliance, who live high above the cloudline in the Archai Mountains. Before the Air Armada, winged citizens of the Alliance would fly between the high trees of the Aetherian Forrest and the mountaintops of Archai. The Elders of Air dispensed wisdom and law from the Archaian mountaintops, and Air society flourished under a peaceful neutrality.

However, after the Fire Kingdom burnt down the Aetherian Forrest, the winged citizens began to question the peaceful policies of the mountain-dwelling Elders. A rift formed between the Air citizens who could fly and those who could not. Soon the winged Air-dwellers built the Air Armada and declared war on the Fire Nation... leaving the Air Alliance in tatters.

Absa was only a young girl when half of the Air Alliance left with the Armada. However, young Absa, math prodigy and wunderkind inventor, perceived the vulnerability of her mountaintop civilization. She studied the world of Aether and developed a defense to protect the mountains from war. She mastered weather patterns and harnessed the power of lightning to create a permanent electrical storm at the base of the Archai Mountains. This storm barricade has hidden the mountains so well that the Air Elders consider themselves impervious to the turmoil of Aether. Yet, Absa, the inventor of the storms herself, fears that the barricades may prove insufficient. Despite the laws of the Elders, Absa secretly developed her storm techniques for offensive use. In martial arts societies hidden in the caves of the Archai mountains, Absa honed skills that she hoped to never need.

Absa flicks her wrist and summons a lightning bolt.

  • Absa’s fastest grounded option. First active frame on frame 4.
  • Amazing in close quarters situations, however is quite short so doesn’t have much use outside those situations.
  • Can be used to 50/50 jab1 into ftilt or dtilt as both tilts require different di. Both are not 100% true, but are extremely hard to react to.

  • Effective for knocking the opponent offstage
  • BE CAUTIOUS!!! Dash attack is very committal compared to Absa’s other options and does not have much reward outside of getting the opponent offstage.
  • Be careful about using dash attack in close quarters as there is a blind spot right in front of Absa.

Absa sends a bolt of lightning from her position to the opponent’s horizontal position.

  • This attack counts as a weak projectile and as such can be crouch cancelled.
  • Takes an eternity to come out. Remember that ftilt1 from a distance is telling the opponent you are possibly going to use ftilt2.
  • Extremely hard to follow up from.
  • Mostly used to force an approach.
  • Ftilt1 > ftilt2 can be delayed slightly.

Absa crouches and an upside A shape of lighting manifests from her horns.

  • Solid anti air.
  • While uptilt does not have as much as a disjoint then ftilt and as such loses to the likes of Clairen dair, uptilt still covers more horizontal space and does not need to be spaced as much.
  • Very useful for when the opponent is above you on a platform, however some platforms like on Forest Floor uptilt cannot reach.
  • Can combo into upair as a kill confirm.
  • Some characters can low profile the attack by crouching, such as Maypul.

Absa shoots a bolt of lightning at the ground.

  • Solid get off me tool.
  • Sends at a low angle which is very good for edge guards.
  • Can force a tech chase situation at almost every %.
  • Common mix-up in conjunction with FTilt to punish DI-Out.

Strong Attacks

All of Absa’s strong attacks can be cancelled into a special move on hit, which reduces some of the endlag. How much endlag is cancelled varies between the strongs. For example fstrong into cloud pop is a very popular option. On small platforms, all 3 of Absa’s strongs can cover every tech option.

Absa kicks behind her.

  • The sweet spot can kick cloud.
  • While bair is slower then fair, bair has the advantages of having a much bigger disjoint, a bigge hitbox, killing earlier and to top it all off bair has a better angle for edge guards. As a result of the larger disjoint bair can challenge moves fair cannot.

Absa creates a large X above her head.

  • Not only is upair an amazing kill move due to its knockback, upair is also absolutely massive and gives Absa a way to launch directly upwards in the air, meaning situations that allow for fair or upair can create di mixups etc…
  • While slower then uptilt, upair can still be used similarly to uptilt to attack opponents directly above Absa on platforms. Upair even allows you to keep your momentum and can reach higher platforms, like Aetheral Gates and even Blazing Hideout.

Absa summons a cloud in front of her that moves away from Absa. The height can be influenced by up and down on the control stick.

  • Weak projectile, can be crouch cancelled.
  • If a cloud was already in play, the previous cloud despawns.
  • A jumping forward special, known as rising cloud can allow Absa to stay mobile while placing a cloud. If this is set up correctly, Absa can be in position to cloud kick when she becomes actionable.

  • Negatively disjointed. Will trade at best and cannot break Kragg rock etc… as a result.
  • Can go in the same direction twice if you go diagonally into the wall/floor and then parallel to the stage.
  • You are able to move a tiny bit in between zips by holding in a desired direction.
  • Longer distance traveled then zip1.

  • Very, very strong in edgeguards.
  • Can force the opponent to recover and di in awkward ways.
  • Be careful on placement as opponents can and will parry cloud bomb. Either place in airborne or have Absa contest a parry attempt.

  • Very long startup.
  • If Absa is hit, Absa loses the charge.
  • Absolutely terrifies the opponent regardless if you land the hit, especially when used in conjunction with up b movement.
