After being hit by an Impact attack, a character can perform a recovery ukemi just as they hit the ground. There are three types of recovery ukemi. If the player does not press any button, the character will be put in a knockdown state, for which the actions described in this section apply instead.
Performed by pressing the Guard button. The character will rise up immediately in place, in a fully invincible state, but won't be able to move until the wake-up animation is over.
Side roll ukemi
Performed by either pressing the Tech button or 8 + Tech button. The character will perform a 18 frames side roll toward the bacgkround or the foreground respectively. The side roll is fully invincible against all types of attacks (including throws) for the first 8 frames.
Performed by pressing the Kick button while landing. The character will perform a 23 frames forward roll which is completely invincible against High attacks, but can be hit by any Low or Mid attack. Functionally identical to wake up forward roll.
Performed by pressing the Punch button while landing. The character will perform a 28 frames bacward roll which is completely invincible against High and Mid attacks for the first 18 frames, but can be hit by any sufficiently far reaching Low. Functionally identical to wake up backward roll, but covers more ground.
