Duels of Fortune

Duels of Fortune is a 2D fighter developed by Cosmic Hat Games. While it was in public early access prior, the game officially released for free on Steam Early Access December 13th, 2023. The game is currently on version 0.6.4 on Itch, and version 0.6.5 on Steam, featuring 17 (25 counting banned bosses) unique characters and numerous single-player modes, with more characters and content on the way.

Duels of Fortune's gameplay is mostly its own style, being most similar to a 1v1 Marvel vs. Capcom 3 albeit still quite different. Buttons, specials, and supers all have one button inputs with specific exceptions, combos are very free-flowing with lots of room for style although there are limits, and meter management is important for keeping the momentum. If you're interested in an easy to learn but hard to master game with a high power level across the cast, then give Duels of Fortune a try.
