Super Dodge Ball/Controls
These actions can be performed regardless of whether or not you're holding the ball.
Hold any direction to walk.
Tap forward twice to run. Your running momentum gets carried over when you jump
Tap backward twice to backdash. You will stay on this state until you touch the ground. You can also catch while backdashing.
Jumping Press the C button to jump.
These actions can be performed while you are holding the ball.
Press the A button to perform a basic throw. Usually weaker and slower than most other throws.
Press the A button while running to perform a running throw. Usually hits multiple times for many characters.
Press the A button while on the air to perform an air throw. Usually knocks the opponent down for many characters.
Running Air Throw
After running, jump then press the A button to perform a running air throw. Usually knocks the opponent down and is generally the strongest regular throw.
Press the B button to pass the ball. You can pass it to a specific teammate by holding the direction where your teammate is at.
Press the B button while on the air to perform an air pass. This will pass the ball at a higher height, making your teammate jump as well in order to catch it. You need to wait until you touch the ground before you can start moving though.
Team captains have access to two special moves, which can be performed by pressing the A button after doing a quarter circle forward motion or a dragon punch motion. Sidekicks can only perform the special move the uses the dragon punch motion. Each character has their own set of moves with various properties.
Team captains can perform a super move by performing a forward, half circle forward motion and pressing the A button. This requires a full meter to perform and generally deals heavy damage.
Press the D button to quickly fake a throw.
Press the D button while on the air to fake an air throw. You can only perform this once on the air. Doing this also resets your gravity.
These are actions that can be performed when you are not holding the ball.
Press the A button to catch the ball. You will take chip damage if you catch the ball too early or too late.
Press the A button on the air to catch the ball. The window for catching the ball is generally shorter compared to catching the ball
Press the B button dodge kneel down and dodge the ball. It's important to know that your teammates can still get hit. Only use this if there's not enough time to turn around, as you cannot catch the ball from behind.
Press the D button to taunt your opponent. Performing a taunt will reduce your opponent's meter. You cannot act until the taunt is finished, so you will be left open to attacks.
Perform a dragon punch motion then press the A button to perform a counter move. This will reflect the ball back towards the opponent. You can also use this while the ball is on the ground. If your opponent performing a move while the ball is attached to their body, performing this move will cause a knockdown. This move will fail when used against super moves.
Press the A and B button together to charge your meter. You can cancel this as soon as you let go of the buttons.
