Noodle

  • It's a mirror match.

Neutral

  • Making your movement ambiguous to read to make punishing Trample and Whip easier.

Offense

  • For any strike-throw scenario, mixing up what you do versus Noodle is important.
  • Frenzy can eat through Soup on defense so use Soup setups that are safe or require a read from the opposing Noodle.

Defense

  • Keep in mind that Frenzy can go through Soup if it's used during oki.
  • Mixup what you do in rps scenarios.

Beef

TLA icon Beef.png

Neutral

  • Try to stay in neutral for a s long as possible since that is where noodle is at their strongest versus Beef
  • Use a combination of Soup and Whip in neutral to wall Beef out and keep them from using Lemons effectively.
  • Soup makes neutral slower paced but lets Noodle cover Jump better, negates Lemon, and can bait out a whiff from Beef.
  • Looks to see how Beef tries to deal with Souo. Beef can hit Soup with 5H, hit Soup with 5L, try to Lemon, Flex/wait out Soup, or Jump over Soup
  • If you have a Soup on deck already and see Beef starts up a Lemon, immediately plant a Soup to negate Lemon entirely

Offense

  • Abuse Noodle's Soup setplay during oki.
  • Due to Beef's slower Jump Attack Noodle can trap Beef in the corner with Soup and Whip as long as they are spaced outside of Heavy Punch range.
  • Reject can be useful for keeping Beef in the corner if they are able to get a turn.

Defense

  • Prioritize moving away from Beef to reset to neutral.
  • Frenzy is a high-risk move that gives Noodle a medium amount of reward. Leverage more how Beef tries to play around Frenzy more than actually using Frenzy itself.
  • Reject is useful for kicking Beef out of their ideal range versus Noodle.

Onion

TLA icon Onion.png

Neutral

  • Soup can act like a pesky wall for Onion to deal with since they don't have useful ways to deal with Soup besides attacking it directly.
  • Try to maintain tipper Whip range versus Onion to make whiff punishing both Jump and Hopkick relatively easy.
  • Be mindful of Hopkick and Jump as preemptive callouts to Whip zoning.

Offense

  • Abuse Noodle's Soup setplay during oki since Onion doesn't have good options on wakeup versus Soup.
  • Try to keep your pressure relatively short.
  • Don't be afraid to reset to neutral.

Defense

  • Use Frenzy very rarely.
  • Be okay with taking a couple of throws from Onion, especially if you cornered yourself beforehand. Onion has a hard time approaching the Carbs in neutral in general and they do much more damage off of a hit, so resetting to neutral at the cost of some life isn't a bad idea.
  • Trample is useful for beating out some Sweep pressure.
  • Reject can be a good way to reset to neutral.

Rice

TLA icon Rice.png

Neutral

  • It's a Carb ditto, so Noodle should use movement to bait Rice to whiff Whip or get enough distance to land Whip on block versus Rice.
  • Trample and Jump are alternate options Noodle can use in neutral due to how trading Trample with Whip is overall an advantage for Noodle and that tipper Whip is the prime range to land a spaced Jump on block, which Rice can struggle to deal with.
  • Keep in mind that Trample needs to be carefully set up with movement and conditioning as it has a hefty amount of endlag if it whiffs.

Offense

  • Noodle's close range pressure is solid versus Rice.
    • Teleport can mostly be punished on reaction as long as Noodle is plus.
    • Trample can keep Noodle in versus a character that lacks close range damage.
  • For oki, use Soup setplay that lets Noodle be plus right next to Rice when they want to.

Defense

  • Frenzy can be a useful callout to frame traps from Rice.
  • Trample is useful as a counterpoke when Rice lands a spaced Slap since it's faster than Rice's Whip in that scenario, and it forces an awkward rps for Rice.

Pork

TLA icon Pork.png

Neutral

  • Hold your ground for as long as you can.
  • Be mindful of Chop as a preemptive punish to Whip zoning and as a punish to a Whip counter poke to Palm.

Offense

  • Try to avoid strictly strike-throw pressure since Chop is a high reward reversal.
  • Use Soup Setplay that can punish Chop on wakeup easily.
  • Due to Pork's slower Jump Attack Noodle can trap Pork in the corner with Soup and Whip as long as they are spaced outside of Heavy Punch range and as long as they are mindful of Chop.

Defense

  • Avoid getting hit into scenarios where Pork can meaty Caber.
  • Use Reject and Burst to get more space between you and the corner.

Garlic

TLA icon Garlic.png

Neutral

  • Zone out Garlic with Whip and Soup.
  • Be careful of Dash as a callout to placing down Soup.
  • Push Garlic to the corner.

Offense

  • Keep your turn for as long as possible.
  • Keep your Soup oki frame tight since Dash can go through Soup entirely and Garlic has multiple cancel options out of Dash.
  • Try to lock Garlic down in the corner.

Defense

  • React to Dash pressure with Frenzy
  • Keep in mind that Trample can be a useful counterpoke to Sweep pressure.
  • Mix up when you mash, fuzzy mash, Frenzy, and block during Garlic’s block pressure (throw oki included).
