Noodle
Neutral
- Making your movement ambiguous to read to make punishing Trample and Whip easier.
- Try to stay at tipper Whip range most of the time.
Offense
- Be mindful of Frenzy as an option to punish frame traps and Slap pressure.
- Safejumping is Rice's safest way of starting pressure versus Noodle, so use it when possible.
Defense
- Only use Teleport when Noodle is minus at point blank range or if you think they will go for an overextension to stay plus in your face. Whip is almost always a guaranteed punish on Teleport.
- Vary Reject timings to make when you will reset to neutral more ambiguous and harder to react to.
Beef
Neutral
- Stay in range to smack Beef with Whip.
- Use Swipe to discourage Beef from moving forward or pressing a button in between Whips.
Offense
- Use Whip and Swipe to keep Beef locked down in the corner.
- More often than not, keeping your pressure short and focusing on resetting to neutral will be more beneficial than keeping pressure up.
Defense
- Any attempts to use Lemon in Gutpunch pressure can be Teleported out of for free as long as there is enough space.
- Use Reject to push Beef outside of Gutpunch range.
Onion
Neutral
- Use Whip and Swipe to keep Onion out.
- Try to maintain tipper Whip range to make whiff punishing Hopkick and Jump easier.
Offense
- Spaced Slap > Swipe is a useful frame trap to use in Rice's Slap rps.
- Try to land spaced out Slaps on block to make whiff punishing Sweep possible.
- Don't be afraid to reset to neutral.
Defense
- Use Teleport a moderate amount. Onion has the hardest time punishing Teleport, so they often have to hard read the move to get a punish.
- Be fine with taking a couple of throws. Onion struggles versus the Carbs in neutral and they don't get much pressure off of throw.
Rice
- It's a mirror match.
Neutral
- Making your movement ambiguous to read to make punishing and Whip easier.
Offense
- Mixup how you use your Whip rekka pressure and what you do in strike-throw scenarios.
- Start your pressure with a safejump whenever you can. Teleport can be punished on reaction as long as your safejump is meaty enough.
Defense
- Only use Teleport when Rice is minus at point blank range or if you think they will go for an overextension to stay plus in your face. Whip is almost always a guaranteed punish on Teleport.
Pork
Neutral
- Hold your ground for as long as you can.
- Be mindful of Chop as a preemptive punish to Whip zoning and as a punish to a Whip counterpoke to Palm.
Offense
- Try to avoid strictly strike-throw pressure since Chop is a high reward reversal.
- Slap > Swipe is a useful frame trap that you can use to make resetting to neutral easier.
Defense
- Avoid getting hit into scenarios where Pork can meaty Caber.
- Use Reject to get more space between you and the corner.
- Teleport is useful during Pork's oki to force them to guess whether you will Teleport, mash, or block instead of the scenario just being strike-throw.
Garlic
Neutral
- Zone out Garlic with Whip.
- Be mindful of when Garlic wants to use Dash.
- Push Garlic to the corner.
Offense
- Keep your turn for as long as possible.
- Spaced Slap > Swipe is a useful frametrap to keep Garlic from starting Sweep pressure immediately after a normal spaced Slap.
- Try to lock Garlic down in the corner.
Defense
- Be careful of when you use Reject since Dash can cross up the move pretty easily.
- Mix up when you mash, fuzzy mash, Frenzy, and block during Garlic’s block pressure (throw oki included).
