Gameplay Overview
Saber is a character that relies heavily on Strike/Throw mixups due to lack of easily accessible standing overheads. However, she makes up for this by having high damage from nearly all of her starters, making her really dangerous to lose neutral against. Saber's normals have large hitboxes that outranges the majority of the cast, making her aggressive blockstrings safe on block with 5A rebeats. 236A/B and 214B reliably extends her blockstrings, and can be cancelled into 22C to make her plus on block. These methods combined gives Saber the ability to keep their opponent on defense for a high amount of time as they try to wait out the pressure, opening up opportunities for throwing. Despite being dominantly a midrange fighter, Saber's burst movement options allows her to get in close to go for the throw. Once thrown, Saber has a myriad of oki setups that'll allow her strikes to land for highly rewarding damage.
It should be noted that even though Saber is built around being a Strike/Throw fighter, she has no setups to combo from her throws, unlike characters like Miyako or Arcueid. This heavily leans towards wanting her strikes to land. Therefore, throwing should be used to scare opponents into taking risks during Saber's blockstrings where she can take advantage of her strong whiff-punish and stagger options.

Safejump
- Most combos ending with air throw allow you to get a safejump by double jumping and timing an air normal
- Attacking with J[C] makes the safejump lose to 9f or faster reversals at point blank spacings
- Can use drift during the neutral jump in order to make certain reversals whiff or to bait shield options
Layer 1 Setups
- These setups look enforce a meaty on the opponent while being safe to most reversals.
AT > dj8 > jB/C
- Standard setup.
AT > dj8 > drift back > j[C]
- Variation can bait shield b+c midscreen or corner.
- Loses to some of the larger reversals.
- Pressure is worse afterwards.
Layer 2 Setups
- Setups look to take advantage of reversals that can interact with layer one setups.
