Vita Fighters is a 2D fighting game with a cast of crossover fighting game and anime characters, each designed in a unique blocky manner. Initially released in early 2020, it had been a Playstation Vita homebrew fangame periodically updated with new characters and patches, all coming together in a new mobile release. Since 2021, DLC packs 1 , 2 and 3 released including free and paid characters.
- Hybrid Traditional Fighting Game: Vita Fighters has the feel of a traditional fighting game while having non-traditional mechanics such as airdashing, bursts, reversals. and chains. Bursts,Reversals and Dash cancels are tied to street fighter inspired meter mechanic, with Bursts costing 2 bars and Dash Cancels/Reversals costing 1.5 bars
- 4 Button Controls: The game uses 4 buttons, the Light button, the Heavy Button, the Special button and the X/Super button. This lets the game be easy to pick up but not too simple as there is depth in a characters movelist with 3 Light Attacks, 3 Medium attacks, at least 3 Heavy Attacks, a minimum of 5 special attacks, and at least 1 Super per character.
- Unique Combo System: Combos in Vita Fighters are flexible since there are many ways to link or cancel attacks into each other, restands are possible and are a tool usually used by advanced players. To compensate, Vita Fighters has deteriorating hitstun and gravity decay after every hit of a combo, it also made jabs universally build the opponent meter to burst. However this burst is not foolproof as you can burst until you've been hit in the air and it can be punished if baited out. Working around bursts by only doing grounded combos or by baiting them is a key skill at high level.
