Pokemon: Close Combat/Controls
Default Controls
The game's default controls are WASD to move, and JKL for buttons.
J: Normal Attacks
K: Special Attacks
L: Parry, Throw
U, I, and O are used for colors 4, 5, and 6. They're also used for training mode.
Esc is used for Pausing and going back in Menus.
Additionally, Esc + JKL can be used to exit a match (such as exiting Training Mode).
Changing Controls and Controller Support
Keyboard:
Use your mouse to navigate to "Option" then "Keyboard". You can edit all keybinds there.
Controllers:
Use your mouse to navigate to "Option" then "Game" then Check "Joystick" to turn on controller support.
You can then go to "Option" then "Controller" to change your binds. The game chooses if a controller is 1P or 2P itself, so make sure to check both if one side isn't working!
Note, there is a known issue where having only 1 controller plugged in can sometimes cause a huge amount of lag. This only occurs locally, and does not occur when playing Online.
It's common for controllers that have some type of analog trigger to have issues with the native controller support. If your controller is unsupported, use Antimicro instead.
For more info on controller setup, see the FAQ: Pokemon: Close Combat/FAQ
Player 2
If you want to also bind player 2 to a controller, its default keybinds are:
TFGH to move (Up, Left, Down, Right respectively) and Numpad 1-3 for buttons
Numpad 1: Normal Attacks
Numpad 2: Special Attacks
Numpad 3: Parry, Throw
Numpad 4, 5, and 6 are also used for colors 4, 5, and 6 on the character select screen.
