lights and meds

  • 0 bar ravenous start midscreen 2 touch without assists
  • extremely difficult on most members of the cast. If you have an assist you can use in combos, go with those routes instead
  • on medium weights you can replace the last Slurp n Slide with 5LK 214MK if the timing is too difficult

Resets

Disclaimer: The notation for these resets starts from a generic 2lk starter for consistency's sake in notation. These are NOT the only ways you can perform these resets, and are not how I would recommend learning to implement resets in your gameplay. Use the notation here and the videos provided as inspiration on how to implement resets into combos you've already learned. Do not think of these sequences as rigid combos you have to perform before resetting, they are merely provided as examples to help get you started. :)

universal

  • the classic sqrt setup
  • works in satiated and ravenous
  • incredibly strong, versatile, and damaging. This is Umbrella's primary mixup
  • every umbrella player needs to learn at least one variation of this mixup, more variations are listed below
  • very difficult to learn, with each character having a different LP to press and a different 2MK timing (see video for more)
  • does not work reliably or easily on Double or Band

all but band

  • sqrt 2
  • much easier to perform than sqrt, highly recommended for beginners!
  • works in satiated and ravenous, in ravenous you do not need to use 5lk
  • takes slightly more undizzy to perform than sqrt, but the damage difference between the two is negligible at best
  • works on double!!!
  • every umbrella player needs to learn at least one variation of this mixup, this being the second variation (hence, sqrt 2)
  • does not work at all on Band

lights and meds

  • the oddsqrt
  • this version of the setup only works in rav when <= 1 pip
  • takes less undizzy to perform than the other two sqrts, making it the most optimal
  • very difficult to perform solo, but made much easier with your assists
  • every umbrella player needs to learn at least one variation of this mixup, this being the "best" variation
  • does not work on heavies
  • use your assists

univsersal

  • la envolvente rakitich badabum (often shortened to rakitich)
  • a simple air left/right/throw mixup
  • works on every character in every hunger state but starving
  • does not do that much damage, as such this reset is mostly for style points
  • does not work on a skilled Band due to Parry OS

very character specific midscreen. works on all but band in the corner

  • kara cancel 5hk crossup (colloquially dubbed the "Oklahoma")
  • a left/right mixup with the crossup starting a stage 3 combo (not ideal)
  • ravenous only
  • this mixup is very funny but not incredibly practical
  • dash not needed in the corner

midscreen

universal

  • the GAS setup
  • an abbreviation of General Assist + Slurp
  • incredibly easy
  • ravenous only
  • does less damage than a sqrt mixup would
  • this only works with assists that dont restand or knock down, examples being LnL or Beam

midscreen

all but heavies

  • most optimal variation of the oddsqrt
  • only costs 70 undizzy!
  • brass only and ravenous only
  • surprisingly easy on light weights, can be a bit tricky on medium weights
  • delay the 214lk on medium weights

midscreen

all but Band

  • 3 hit burst bait ending with a hard knockdown if they dont burst
  • incredibly easy to setup, all you need is LP tracking IPS and OTG still unused in your combo
  • does not have to be this starter, will work off of any OTGless combo
  • if they do not burst, feel free to go for a mixup when they get up
  • the setup shown in the video only works on lights and meds, on Double feel free to do something basic like 2HP jMP jMK 2LP 2MP 2HK 236LP and go into the burst bait from there
  • will not work in training mode if your escape delay setting is 0, it needs to be 5 or higher (which is fine because a human will never hit a frame perfect burst anyways)

all

  • burst bait option off of sqrt
  • very good against characters like Fortune, who tend to mash air reversals when being hit by this reset
  • does not have to be this starter, all you need is to use a sqrt variation involving popping bobble with LP

all

  • burst bait ending in a HKD if you have not used OTG in your combo yet
  • does not have to be this starter, it will work off of any OTGless combo
  • lets you get a puddle and a bubble on the opponent when they get off of the ground
  • you can replace the 214MK with 214LK if you are close to starving

  • does not have to be this starter, works off of any combo that leads to wishmaker midscreen

Left/Right Mixup Guide

Goes in detail over most of Umbrella's left/right mixups, including all 3 sqrt variations currently in use. Great for beginners

General Reset Guide

Has most Umbrella resets in one tidy place. It's only missing 2 resets, namely the Rakitich and Sqrt 2.0.

Sqrt Primer

Footage of the Sqrt, aka 2MK puddle > ptooie, on every character.

La Envolvente Rakitich Badabum

By delaying 2HP after 2MK on a puddle, Umbrella gets access to a simple universal air left/right/throw/burst that works in every hunger mode except starving. Its disadvantages are that it doesn't fit into low hunger routing as nicely as the sqrt since it doesn't give back hunger and that it doesn't work in the corner.

GAS Compendium

General Assist Slurp with every usable assist. Meant to show off which assists allow you and how, not a tutorial. Check the Team Building & Assist Combos page for more information
