Notation

STFBHE most commonly uses numpad notation to denote normals, specials, supers, combos, etc. For those new to numpad notation, here is a graphic that covers the basics of how numpad applies in STFBHE:

STFBHE Notation.png

To put this notation in practice, anything denoted with "5" means that no direction is being pressed. 1/2/3 are all crouching motions. 4 is backwards, 6 is forwards. Lastly, 7/8/9 are all jumping motions. This notation is assuming the player is facing to the right.

This also covers motion inputs. for example, Sonic's Spindash special move is done by inputting 236P (Down, Downforward, Forward, Punch).

Here are additional pieces of notation used for certain special moves:

  • [x]: Hold button/direction e.g. [4]6P is charge back, forward, punch.
  • ]x[: Release button/direction e.g. P, 236]P[ is pressing punch, down, downforward, forward, release punch.
  • {x}: The input/direction is optional.

Combo Notation

Here is a list of common symbols and abbreviations that you may see when viewing the combo notation of any given character.

  • j.X - The move in question is a jumping/aerial move.
  • sh. - The move in question is being done from a short hop.
  • > - Indicates a move being chained into another move.
  • , - Indicates a move being linked into from another move.
  • xx - Indicates a move cancelling into a special/super.
  • / - Indicates that there is an alternate move that can be substituted.
