An explanation of a stage's Arena Gimmick.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R features a total of 17 stages, spanning across several key locations from various parts from the series. At the start of every round, each player will be positioned at the edges of the chosen stage, and are allowed to move before the round begins.

Every stage in the game has 18 sides (meaning they all have the same size). However, these sides are not equally distributed for all stages, leading to some having slightly different shapes. Because of this, stages do not feature corners in the traditional sense, unlike most fighting games.

In reference to the source material, certain characters (JJASBR Dio Brando Small Icon.png Dio Brando, JJASBR Wamuu Small Icon.png Wamuu, JJASBR Esidisi Small Icon.png Esidisi, JJASBR Kars Small Icon.png Kars, JJASBR Vanilla Ice Small Icon.png Vanilla Ice, and JJASBR DIO Small Icon.png DIO) are considered Stone Mask characters. Included among the distinctions these characters possess is the fact that, outside of Practice and Online play, they cannot battle in stages that take place in daylight without completing certain in-game conditions related to ASB Mode.

Also referencing the source material, every stage is equipped with two elements that set them apart from each other:

  • Dramatic Finish: A special mini-cutscene that takes place if, during a match-winning round, a character is KO'd with an HHA/GHA while on a specific side of a given stage. These often reference events from the original story that led to grim outcomes.
  • Arena Gimmicks: A stage-specific hazard that can affect both players in a given match, more often than not dealing significant damage (though incapable of KOing them). An explanation of each Arena Gimmick can be seen while in the Stage Select Screen, where they can also be disabled.

In tournament rulesets, Arena Gimmicks are disabled due to the effects they bring into battle, which can potentially affect the match's outcome. With that said, they will all be listed here for completion's sake.

Dio's Castle

Stage Overview

JJASBR Dio's Castle Stage Select Gradient.png

Dio's Castle is a stage from Phantom Blood, the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place inside the castle where Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando fought, next to a balcony that shows the full moon and night sky. The background is filled with Dio's zombie minions and, if he is not selected by either player, Robert E. O. Speedwagon.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the balcony. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will fly off the balcony and onto the ground below, referencing Dio's "defeat" in the part.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears on the opposite side of the balcony. Once a player is knocked down into the activation area, the chandelier on the ceiling will begin to come loose with Dio's minions hanging from it. Afterwards, a red warning circle will appear in the center of where the activation area once was. After Speedwagon takes notice of the chandelier, Dio's minions emerge from the ceiling and a zombie looks over to the sound of it coming loose, after which the piece of furniture will fall as an Unblockable attack and deal 150 damage to any player near the warning circle.

Battlefield

Stage Overview

JJASBR Battlefield Stage Select Gradient.png

Battlefield is a stage from Battle Tendency, the second part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place in Skeleton Heel Stone, the racetrack-like arena where Joseph Joestar and Wamuu had their final standoff. There are many zombies in the stands, horses on the left edge, and (if neither player has selected the characters) Kars and Lisa Lisa watching from the center.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the left edge, where the horses normally are. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will fall onto the ground. Once there, the horses will run over and stomp onto them, alluding to Joseph almost suffering the same fate.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears on the left edge, in front of the horses. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, the horses will begin to run around the arena. After some time, they will run onto the battle area; when they are about to appear, three different panels of the horses running around the track will be shown alongside a warning line. Once the horses run onto the battle area, players near the warning line will be hit by an Unblockable attack that deals 150 damage, though it does not cause a hard knockdown. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

DIO's Mansion

Stage Overview

JJASBR DIO's Mansion Stage Select Gradient.png

DIO's Mansion is a stage from Stardust Crusaders, the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place inside the room of the mansion where Jean Pierre Polnareff, Muhammad Avdol, and Iggy encountered DIO's most powerful servant: Vanilla Ice. As a result of the battle, many circular-shaped holes leading to the mansion's exterior can be seen in the walls and background, sunlight poking through these holes. Nukesaku appears as a background character, moving throughout the room. If neither player has selected Dio Brando or DIO, the latter will also appear at the top of the stairs in the background, watching the fight.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the holes leading outside. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be launched out of the mansion and into the sunlight, where any Stone Mask character (except Kars as the Ultimate Life Form) will be instantly vaporized.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the entrance facing the stairs and door. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Nukesaku will jump onto the ceiling and prepare his attack. When he is about to attack, a small red warning circle will appear, followed shortly by Nukesaku lunging at the circle from the ceiling before running away. Players inside the circle will be hit by an Unblockable attack that deals 100 damage and causes hard knockdown. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

El Cairo City

Stage Overview

JJASBR El Cairo City Stage Select Gradient.png

El Cairo City is a stage from Stardust Crusaders, the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place during DIO's pursuit of Noriaki Kakyoin and a middle-aged Joseph Joestar, with the combatants fighting in a large, open square on the sidewalk of the city. Cars and buildings can be seen in the background, with fences and an additional building acting as the walls. If neither player has picked DIO, Senator Wilson Phillips can be seen on the sidewalk.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the clock tower. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be launched backwards into a water tower, reenacting Kakyoin's death in the part.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears on the fences on the right side of the stage (Player 2's round start position). Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Senator Phillips will enter his car, where DIO will force him to drive on the sidewalk. After a brief delay, the car will drive along the indicated path and become an Unblockable projectile that can hit both players and deals 200 damage, though it does not cause a hard knockdown.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected DIO.

Cairo Bridge

Stage Overview

JJASBR Cairo Bridge Stage Select Gradient.png

Cairo Bridge is a stage from Stardust Crusaders, the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place on the bridge where Jotaro Kujo and DIO finish their final battle. The city can be seen in the background with the railings, traffic cones, and burning cars marking the walls of the stage.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the burning cars (NOT the Speedwagon Foundation van). If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked onto their back, after which DIO will stop time and bring a road roller to flatten them, mirroring his same actions in the part.

If DIO is selected by either player, this Dramatic Finish cannot be activated if he loses the match. However, outside of mirror matches, it can still take place if DIO is the victor.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears in front of the Speedwagon Foundation van. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, DIO will "stop time" and, after a brief period, throw a barrage of knives in a straight line. Any players near the line will be hit by an Unblockable projectile that deals 150 damage, though it does not cause a hard knockdown.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected DIO.

Cape Boingy Boing

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Cape Boingy Boing Stage Select Gradient.png

Cape Boingy Boing is a stage from Diamond is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place in front of the house that Yukako Yamagishi rented out, where Koichi Hirose is locked in. The battle area takes place right next to a cliff and is surrounded by fences. Koichi's Stand, Echoes ACT 1, can be seen shedding its skin in front of the house.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the opening of the fence. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be launched off the cliff and fall onto sharp rocks, only to bounce off safely thanks to the powers of Echoes ACT 2 and instead fall into the ocean.

If Koichi Hirose is selected by either player, this Dramatic Finish cannot be activated if he loses the match. However, outside of mirror matches, it can still take place if Koichi is the victor.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick spawns around where Echoes ACT 1 is located. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, it will finish shedding its skin and evolve into Echoes ACT 2, spawning three sound effects that act as traps on the stage. The traps spawn in random locations and deal varying damage: the red trap spawns a large burst of fire that causes crumple (150 damage), the purple trap explodes (200 damage), and the blue trap launches the victim far away while causing a hard knockdown (0 damage).

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected Koichi Hirose.

Kira Estate

Stage Overview

JJASBR Kira Estate Stage Select Gradient.png

Kira Estate is a stage from Diamond is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place inside the main room of the Kira family home, as explored by Josuke Higashikata and an older Jotaro Kujo in their pursuit of the serial killer Yoshikage Kira. Otherwise being a normal room, it features doorways with seemingly invisible walls. If no one has picked them, Koichi Hirose and Okuyasu Nijimura can be seen outside these invisible walls, trying to get in.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the wall that has Okuyasu outside. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will fly into a floating book which will drop and reveal Kira's notes in his diary.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears on the left side of the middle of the stage, around the only wall with no door. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Yoshihiro Kira will appear through the powers of his Stand, Atom Heart Father, and after a brief delay, wildly slash in front of him as he travels a winding path. The attack is Unblockable and deals 120 damage.

Morioh Town

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Morioh Town Stage Select Gradient.png

Morioh Town is a stage from Diamond is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place on a street in Morioh, Japan, during the time of the final battle between Josuke Higashikata and Yoshikage Kira (under the guise of Kosaku Kawajiri). Many crowds of people and firefighters can be seen in the background.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the ambulances and “Keep Out” tape. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be transported to Ghost Girl's Alley where, after a declaration from Reimi Sugimoto, they will turn around and be dragged to the afterlife by ghostly hands, referencing Yoshikage Kira's final fate.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the burning house (Player 2's round start position). Once a player is knocked into the activation area, lightning will strike a "Bepzz" billboard, and areas of danger will be highlighted red on the map. After a brief moment, lightning will strike and hurt players that were in the marked spots. This attack is Unblockable and deals 180 damage.

Interestingly enough, Akira Otoishi is immune to this Arena Gimmick, and will instead refill his Electricity Gauge if hit by the lightning while his battery is lower than 1 full bar.

Naples Train Station

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Naples Train Station Stage Select Gradient.png

Naples Train Station is a stage from Vento Aureo, the fifth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place at a train station in Naples, Italy, as the protagonists are boarding an express train to Florence and about to be attacked by Prosciutto and Pesci. The background features the duo (who will not appear if selected by either player), several bystanders awaiting their trains, and the turtle Coco Jumbo, who is currently housing Trish Una (alongside the team under the leadership of Bruno Bucciarati) via the powers of its Stand, Mr.President.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the train. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked down while the train is about to leave the station. Pesci's Stand, Beach Boy, will stick its fishing hook into the opponent and cause them to be dragged alongside the train, with voice lines from the duo.

If Prosciutto & Pesci are selected, this Dramatic Finish cannot be activated.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the train (Player 2's round start position) after roughly 20 seconds have passed. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, after a brief period, Pesci will send his Stand's fishing line out through the wall of the train, hurting anyone who is in its indicated path. This attack is Unblockable and deals 150 damage.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected Prosciutto & Pesci.

Rome

Stage Overview

JJASBR Rome Stage Select Gradient.png

Rome is a stage from Vento Aureo, the fifth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. This stage is based on the streets of Rome, Italy, where Team Bucciarati fights Cioccolata and Secco (and their Stands, Green Day and Oasis, respectively) on their way to the Roman Colosseum. The background showcases various buildings (including the Colosseum), bystanders, and a road that's been uprooted with cars halfway submerged underground due to the effects of Secco's Stand.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the intact road (Player 1's round start position). If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked into the back of a garbage truck, the exact same landing spot of Cioccolata after Giorno Giovanna's iconic beatdown against the former.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the submerged cars at the left side of the middle of the stage. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Secco will appear and areas of danger will be marked in red. After a brief period, mud will start appearing from the indicated spots. Any player in the mud will be given four Unblockable hits dealing 30 damage each before dispersing. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

Colosseum

Stage Overview

JJASBR Colosseum Stage Select Gradient.png

Colosseum is a stage from Vento Aureo, the fifth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. This stage is based on the Roman Colosseum, where Team Bucciarati meets up with their incognito ally, and finally encounter their main enemy face to face. The background shows the empty Colosseum at night, with the rogue Stand Chariot Requiem sitting on the stairway on the back wall.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the back wall. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked into the metal bars of the entrance gate, before the camera zooms onto Chariot Requiem's severed hand holding the Stand Arrow. The Stand then picks up and reattaches said hand, heading for the exit and marking the start of its soul-altering marathon.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears next to the stairway with Chariot Requiem. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Chariot Requiem will begin to walk down the stairs. In the middle of this, a long cinematic showing Trish, Mista, Coco Jumbo, outside plant life and even the camera itself will play, all falling asleep. Once both players have awakened, a 1.5x multiplier is applied to all damage output for a period of time.

Green Dolphin Street State Prison

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Green Dolphin Street State Prison Stage Select Gradient.png

Green Dolphin Street State Prison is a stage from Stone Ocean, the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. This stage is based on the courtyard where the first major fight between Jolyne Cujoh and Father Enrico Pucci takes place. The background is full of poisonous jungle frogs that Weather Report had made rain during the fight. If Weather Report is not selected, he will appear sitting down on the other side of the gate on the back wall.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered if the player is facing the clock statue in the center of the courtyard. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked down and their DISC will be stolen by Pucci's Stand, Whitesnake.

If either version of Pucci is selected, this Dramatic Finish cannot be activated.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears on the gate to the prison (close to Player 1's round start position). Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Weather Report will cause more poisonous jungle frogs to rain from above in the highlighted areas. After a brief delay, the frogs will land and deal poison damage to any player they manage to hit. This attack is Unblockable and does roughly 45 damage in total. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected Weather Report.

Everglades

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Everglades Stage Select Gradient.png

Everglades is a stage from Stone Ocean, the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. This stage is based on the spawny farmlands just outside of Green Dolphin Street State Prison where Jolyne and Ermes Costello first encounter Foo Fighters. The background showcases the barn, farmland for growing crops, and a coastline to the lake.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the coastline. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked down next to a self-destructing bracelet that the guards of the prison use on inmates trying to escape, destroying the opponent in the explosion.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the small sandy area on the coastline. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, the rogue Stand Foo Fighters will knock over a bucket, dumping itself into the lake. After a brief moment, Foo Fighters will jump out from the water and land in the areas of danger, which are marked in red. Any player that gets hit by this Unblockable attack will take 180 damage, and be stunned as they are held down by the Stand for roughly 5 seconds.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected Foo Fighters.

Kennedy Space Center

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Kennedy Space Center Stage Select Gradient.png

Kennedy Space Center is a stage from Stone Ocean, the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, added for free on December 1st, 2022. The stage takes place at the eponymous location in Cape Canaveral, Florida, during the fight between Jolyne's group and Father Enrico Pucci, who has developed an evolved Stand. As this new Stand (called C-MOON) is capable of changing the orientation of gravity, the stage is rotated by 90 degrees. The background features two women hanging from guardrails, and several other bystanders that fall every few seconds, along with various debris.

If Pucci (Final) successfully activates his Great Heat Attack on this stage, a short extra cinematic will play, depicting him flying to the exact right coordinates necessary to acquire his ultimate Stand, Made in Heaven.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the edge of the platform closest to the wall (on the side where the spaceship is). If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be hit off the platform and smash into a metal railing before tumbling down for miles due to the shifted gravity.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears alongside the left wall of the arena. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, debris will be shown falling from the building above, and the areas of danger will be highlighted in red. After a brief period, the debris will land and any player standing in the marked areas will be hit. This attack is Unblockable and deals 120 damage. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

Rocky Mountain Village

Stage Overview

JJASBR Rocky Mountain Village Stage Select Gradient.png

Rocky Mountain Village is a stage from Steel Ball Run, the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage is based on the otherwise unnamed village, where Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli and Diego Brando are attacked and turned into dinosaurs by Dr. Ferdinand and his Stand, Scary Monsters, leading to events where Diego would gain said Stand's powers. The stage's background showcases the worn-down village at night with a starry sky, complete with the Big Dipper constellation and visible Aurora Borealis.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the broken down wall at the front of the stage. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be launched off the cliff, smacking into a branch on their way down, similar to how Johnny and Gyro tried to escape from Dr. Ferdinand's dinosaurs.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near the middle of the back wall. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, a dinosaur will emerge from the eaten corpse of a bear. The dangerous area will be highlighted in red, and after a brief moment, the dinosaur will jump down from its ledge and attack there, before jumping back and waiting for the next time to strike. This attack is Unblockable, deals 120 damage, and drains some of the victim's Heart Heat Gauge. This will continue to happen periodically for the rest of the match.

This Arena Gimmick cannot be activated if either player has selected Diego Brando.

Philadelphia Seaside

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Philadelphia Seaside Stage Select Gradient.png

Philadelphia Seaside is a stage from Steel Ball Run, the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It is based on the area where Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli and Hot Pants fight against President Funny Valentine and his newly upgraded stand, D4C -Love Train-; and where Valentine, unbeknownst to Johnny, makes a deal to bring an alternate counterpart of Diego Brando to the base world. Due to the effects of the Holy Corpse, the forces of good fortune erase parts of the land and bring in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean all the way to Philadelphia. The background shows the mountains, farmers and a town in the distance, the flowing waters of the newly-moved Atlantic Ocean, and a glowing line leading to Lucy Steel's body (lying close to an injured Steven Steel).

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing the bear sign. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be launched into the sign. In the source material, the sign was used as the reference point for showcasing the geographical erasure at play.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears near Lucy Steel. Its activation ring is unique in that it only appears once someone has reached 50% of their Health, as well as being colored blue compared to the red of the rest of the stages. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Lucy's body will glow. After a brief period, a glowing spot will appear on the map; once a player moves to it, they will be given one bar of Heart Heat Gauge. The beam will disappear and respawn at given intervals as long as it is not touched by any player, otherwise being disabled for the rest of the match.

Wall Eyes

JJASBR Blue Stone Mask Icon.png This stage takes place outdoors during the day. As such, Stone Mask characters and Assists are not allowed to play here unless their appropriate conditions have been met in ASB Mode. JJASBR Red Stone Mask Icon.png

Stage Overview

JJASBR Wall Eyes Stage Select Gradient.png

Wall Eyes is a stage from JoJolion, the eighth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The stage takes place at the titular Wall Eyes, near which an unconscious, amnesiac man was first discovered. The background features Yasuho Hirose laying down amongst the rubble.

Dramatic Finish

The Dramatic Finish for this stage can be triggered while facing where Yasuho is sitting. If a player performs the Dramatic Finish, the opponent will be knocked down in front of where Yasuho is, prompting her to scream and causing Joshu Higashikata (who is in love with her) to bash the opponent's head in with a brick.

Arena Gimmick

On this stage, the Arena Gimmick appears over by Yasuho. Once a player is knocked into the activation area, Joshu Higashikata will pick up a brick and, after a brief period, run in an indicated path while swinging it around, attacking all players in his way before stopping at Yasuho and getting down on his knees to catch his breath. This attack is Unblockable and deals 150 damage.
