  • Why the PAL version of Gotcha Force?

The PAL version had much more gecko code hacking progress than the NTSC version, so we started from there and haven't found a reason to do NTSC because of the 60hz toggle available in the PAL version.

  • Can I play Story Mode?

Yes but please use a different save file. We do not allow upgraded level borgs except for the level 10 Death Borgs in the Gotcha Box.

  • Where are the characters? How do I make a force?

Go to the Force Edit menu option (the green gear) and all of the characters will be in this huge box for you to choose and order.

  • What are the multi-colored boxes that load when I press A in VS Mode?

Those are GF Boxes. Each time you load one, the game reads the memory card in Slot A and stores the save data inside that box. For netplay, since we use a universal Box with all characters, you only need to load a single GF Box (the red one).

  • How do I Super-Jump?

D-Pad Up + Jump. You cannot be charging a move while performing one.

  • Why can't I air-tech my opponent's moves?

You have been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth Counter Hit! Attacking blindly now has more risk with this new mechanic.

  • What are this game's properties for a Counter Hit?

Suffering a grounded counter-hit will cause a stagger-chain (Chip damage will trigger stagger) and an aerial counter-hit will cause an untechable juggle with an upwards angle.

  • The aim marker changes shapes and colors. What do they mean?

If its a simple red circle, your moves will not home-in. If it's a red circle with bumps, it means you are in shooting range. If that same circle is enveloped in spinning spikes, you are in melee range. If the circle becomes yellow, it means your opponent has suffered a knockdown, or is invincible. If any of these circles have blue markers, it means your ally is locked-on to that opponent.

  • How do I avoid screen moves that always seem to hit?

Every time you start an airdash, your tracking resets. All airdashes have a cooldown, but in most cases, it takes too long and these piercing type moves always land. By cancelling an airdash into a jump, you can immediately restart your airdash, as long as you have enough boost or jump stocks. A common strategy is to mash jump + airdash input when you think your opponent is about to use a screen move or a very fast melee attack. You can also achieve this effect by backturned shooting and then cancelling the animation by airdashing.

  • This Borg seems to be overpowered and sweeps my entire team!

You'll might have to get more creative with your force building; especially when playing teams with a friend. In Gotcha Force, a busted strategy always has the craziest counterplay imaginable, or at least a reliable counter-pick. Super armor characters lose to multi-hit moves and bombs; Dragons lose to rushdown; Machines lose to zoners; zoners lose to fast characters; fast characters lose to flyers; flyers lose to brawlers; brawlers lose to Tanks; Tanks lose to Air Borgs etc... the list goes on.

  • I can combo almost any move into itself for a grounded loop. What's the point of other combos and knockback moves?

The best reason for this is the air-tech 50/50. If you read their air-tech, you can snipe them or cancel a move into a special one that can chase down their airtech attempt. A lot of characters have much better damage output on their projectiles or on certain knockback moves, than their grounded stagger moves. It is also wise to NOT spend too much time on your combo, not only because of damage scaling but also your partner might need your help more than your opponent needs to be stunlocked.

  • Are the alternate colors of characters in the Force Edit "Warehouse" legal?

Yes. They are only cosmetic, so feel free to use them. However, I believe that in a netplay tournament, they cannot be used because of the universal Gotcha Box. Now, in locals or Parsec, you can use the Gotcha Box feature to have your own personal Gotcha Box with your alts in a save file/memory card.

  • Can this be played on Nintendon't?

Not yet. I have a .gct file but I need to test if it works.
