Windjammers (known as Flying Power Disc in Japan) is an arcade video game originally created by Data East in 1994 for the Neo Geo. Described by some as “Pong Meets Street Fighter II,” the unorthodox gameplay of Windjammers originally made it one of the more obscure titles on the system. However, it was this same uniqueness that allowed Windjammers to become a cult classic, maintaining a small, devoted playerbase through the years since its release. The rights to a modern console release were eventually acquired by French company Dotemu, who released a netplay-capable port of the original game onto the Playstation 4 in 2017 with a Switch version following in 2018. These ports triggered the modern resurgence of a competitive scene, an official league (The Flying Power League), as well as interest in an official Dotemu-developed sequel, Windjammers 2, which is released in 2021. Unfortunately there is no way to view hitboxes in that game yet so it will not get a Mizuumi at this time.
