Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2 is a 3D hybrid wrestling/fighting game developed by AKI Corporation. It was originally released for the Namco System 256 arcade board in Japan on June 21, 2007, and an updated port called Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2 Tokumori for the PlayStation 2 on September 25, 2008.
MGP2 is a 4-button fighter, with a control scheme reminiscent to Virtua Fighter. It is based on the popular and long-running Kinnikuman anime/manga franchise. This game's roster is focused on the characters from the original 80s series, though it has several characters from the early 2000s sequel Kinnikuman Nisei (known as Ultimate Muscle in the West). Considering the developer's background and Kinnikuman's subject matter, MGP2 has a lot of wrestling game elements, such as ring ropes and an emphasis on throws. However, unlike most other AKI games, MGP2 also has mechanics more at home with your traditional fighting game, like meters, motion inputs and juggles. These mechanics come together to make a game that plays quite like nothing else out there.
How to Play MGP2
The arcade version of the game is inaccessible for most players, which leaves only the PS2 version. There are 2 ways to play the PS2 version: On a real PS2 or via emulation (such as using PCSX2).
Regardless, you will have to obtain the game on your own. You can ask in our Discord server for help.
