Samurai Deeper Kyo is a semi-traditional 2D air-dasher released for the PSX in 2002 by Bandai and developed by Project Kyo. The game is based on the manga series written by Akimine Kamijyo of the same name. Samurai Deeper Kyo takes place in the sengoku period, and follows the story of Demon Eyes Kyo as he seeks to regain his body after his soul was sealed inside the body of his rival, Mibu Kyoshiro. Kyo is joined in his search by the bounty-hunter Shiina Yuya, the heir to the Tokugawa shogunate Benitora, and Sanada Yukimura, a known rival of the Tokugawa.
Samurai Deeper Kyo's gameplay is very aggressive and mix-up heavy, though it can also be compared to that of Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale's, with somewhat fast movement and a simple and unique control scheme that allows you to easily perform specials and create combos without much difficulty while still maintaining depth.
