Numpad Notation
Skill Set Notation
Since it is possible for players to freely assign special moves to any of the 3 directions assigned to Skills, communicating a combo also requires communicating the skill set & order chosen by the player. The notation standard for Skill Sets in Fight of Steel is:
- (Forward Skill, Down Skill, Back Skill, Super)
- Each skill is notated as the skill number in-game and the category - Punch (P), Kick (K), Fireball (F), Special (S). Super only uses a number.
For example, "(F7,P5,K2,7) 2H 5H 4S" provides the necessary information to know that 4S refers to Kick Skill #2 ("Chain Kick A") in the combo.
There are a couple of reasons this is the chosen standard: It allows writers to use numpad notation with Direction + S referring to Skills and also provides context to understand training mode clips with input history on.
It is also possible to shorthand this by referencing each skill directly by its identifier since directional assignment does not change the performance of each move. If all you need to communicate is 2H to 5H to Chain Kick A, you can simply write "2H 5H K2".
