Gameplay

Overview

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Crazy good range; Has moves that go a far distance while also having tippers on the tips of his attacks to either combo or kill.
  • Strong kill confirms; If hit, Octo has multiple confirms that can kill below 120 and as low as 80.
  • Good recovery; between neutral B, up B snapping into ledge and pulling him into walls, and airdash, Octo has many good ways to recover, even after getting spiked. Up B being hard to contest due to the grabox often leading to a reverse edguard if you get hit also helps with this.
  • Poor up close frame data; Due to the lack of any fast, close up move, Octo can't handle being pressured very well.
  • Difficult confirms; Octo can struggle to get kills due to the difficulty of his kill confirms
  • Large Hurtbox; Octo has a very big model and an even bigger tumble animation, which means that he gets combo'd very easily
  • No Disjoints; Despite having extremely good range, Octo has almost no disjoints, meaning that trying to land or get out of disadvantage becomes significantly harder then it otherwise might be.
