Full name Gamon Nakai

Play-style All-Rounder
Weight Middleweight (6/12)

Introduction

Playstyle
Jstagamon.png Gamon Nakai is an all-rounder who can essentially do it all. He thrives on solid fundamentals, and uses his riskier attacks to fish for huge counterhit damage.
Strengths Weaknesses
  • Jack of All Trades: Gamon has the tools to deal with every situation, and though he isn't really the best at anything he can play a variety of styles effectively.

  • Combo Natural: Gamon's combos are high-damage, malleable, and difficult to parry due to their use of lows. He can easily bait Atemi attempts by changing his routes on the fly without losing much damage.

  • Lows and Throws: Gamon has a solid selection of both low pokes and throws, giving him access to easy and effective mix at any time.

  • Launching Woes: Although Gamon's 236~K deals phenomenal damage on normal and counter hit, it's quite slow and unsafe, which limits his conversions from his otherwise excellent guard breaks. Besides the final hit of PPP6PP, this is his only normal hit launcher, so one should make sure to use it with caution.

  • Fireball War Loser: Gamon's laser-based zoning is decent, but he has effectively no methods of anti-zoning due to his lack of a traditional fireball and his mediocre super. He can easily be blown up from long range and must work to close distance as quick as he can in these situations.

  • Ugly Ass Face: Bro this mf is so goddamn ugly like seriously what the hell did they do to this man's character model.

236 - - - - - - - -

Gamon's stepdash. The natural movement speed in Jingi Storm is so high that you have no reason to use this on its own, but it ducks highs so that's cool.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
236K - - - - - - - -

Gamon performs a somersault kick. Fast startup if your execution is on point, and provides big reward on counterhit. Slightly unsafe on hit.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
236~K - - - - - - - -

Green guard break. Basically a better, but slower version of 236K. Gives very high launch on normal hit, with massive launch and big damage on counterhit.

Sub-par jab string. Third hit doesn't combo and hits high.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
PPPP - - - - - - - -

Decent mid ender, will counterhit launch if you catch someone pressing.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
PPP6P - - - - - - - -

Repeated backfist, still not a combo.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
PPP6PP - - - - - - - -

Extended version, 6PP extension will fuck people up trying to parry mid ender of PPPP, since 6P is high.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
PPP2K - - - - - - - -

Good low ender, but reactable. Punishes atemi attempts.

Nice punish string. True combo and ok damage.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block

Knocks down, fairly easy to atemi. Ending string early to bait and punish low atemi is a good strat.

Quick yellow guard break, lots of time after to hit opponent but not actually that much reward due to Gamon's lack of a quick launcher.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
6PK - - - - - - - -

Low ender, bad damage and minus on hit makes this trash. If your opponent is slow to react and punish, 236k will counterhit.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
6P7K - - - - - - - -

Mid ender, gives a great counterhit launch and appears to be safe on block. Useful when people begin to duck your 6PP.

Green guard break. Absurdly fast hook, but green guard break so not likely to net much reward. In the situation where you can react to the guard break, you get a full launch afterwards. Hits high despite appearances.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
4PP - - - - - - - -

Mid uppercut. Solid damage, natural combo from 4P makes this a good punish tool.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
4PK - - - - - - - -

Yellow guard break. On the slower end, so not a ton of neutral application. Very good combo filler for Gamon, basically acts as a relaunch with how high it sends the opponent. Vital to most of Gamon's high-damage routes.

Quick low poke, damage is alright so not a terrible choice.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
1PK - - - - - - - -

Low-low string. Primarily useful as a guaranteed followup to 1P+G. Also has high enough frame advantage to allow a 236K or microrun 9KK to be linked afterwards.

Shark Slicer
66PP
Gamon 66pp.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
66P - - - - - - - -

Green guard break. Big approaching overhead chop; unsafe on block, but excellent range and hits OTG. Probably best used as a long ranged punish after sidestepping a super or something.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
66PP - - - - - - - -

Mid uppercut followup. Also unsafe, but 66P has a ton of hitstun and this is delayable so you can easily hitconfirm this part of the string.

Sidestep P

Standard backfist sidestep P. Safe on block and plus on hit.

Leg Cutter
Running P

Quick low that knocks down. The threat of running K means your opponent likely won't be looking out for this.

Mid ender, mostly useful to catch people when they're expecting the guard break.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
KKPP~6P+K - - - - - - - -

A tricky red guard break ender, makes this string quite threatening. Gets a 3K on successful block, but highly vulnerable to atemi.

Skull Diver
66K44
Gamon 66k4.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block

Yellow guard break, slow startup but great range. Gives a full launch afterwards with 236~K

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block

Orbital beam followup. Decent application as it places the beam in front, but it's a little awkward to set up.

3K
Gamon 3k.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
3K - - - - - - - -

Nonstandard 3K with interesting properties. Excellent range, safe in most scenarios, and gives a knockdown with guaranteed OTGs. Treat it like a sort of mini-launcher, guaranteed after basically any guard break.

Sneaky low kicks, natural combo with decent damage.

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
1KKK - - - - - - - -

Knockdown ender, will mostly see use in juggles as it bounces the opponent weirdly high. End early to bait 2g and 3P+G them.

Aerial Salto
9KK
Gamon 9kk.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
9K - - - - - - - -

Very fast hopkick, unsafe so don't do this on its own. Natural combo from Running K

Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
9KK - - - - - - - -

Green guard break. Backflip followup, still unsafe but recovers crouching so it'll duck a lot of stuff. Really fast, good at breaking pressure.

Sidestep K
Gamon sidestep k.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
Sidestep K - - - - - - - -

Better range than universal sidestep K. Pretty useful as a sidestep punish, as Gamon lacks the traditional sidestep P launcher.

Running K
Gamon running k.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
Running K - - - - - - - -

Looks like a mid, but hits high. Links into a 9KK afterwards for good damage.

6P+K

Weird mid kick, pretty shit.

Sidestep 6
Gamon sidestep 6.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
Sidestep 6 - - - - - - - -

Forward step orbital beam. Places the laser behind Gamon, and can interrupt opponent's attacks even when they connect as the laser does not disappear when Gamon is hit.

Sidestep 4
Gamon sidestep 4.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
Sidestep 4 - - - - - - - -

Backward step orbital beam. Input can be kind of finnicky, but has application as a zoning and space control tool. Slower and stronger than Landy's sidestep 4.

Aerial Attacks

Air 3P
Gamon air p.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
Air 3P - - - - - - - -

Green guard break. Wonky looking hammer fist. Solid jump in with high active frames, allows followups if connected low to the ground.

Air Blizzard
Air K
Gamon air k.gif

Same as Arashi's Air K, gives massive hitstun which combos into 236~K.

Throws

Weird pelvic thrust, solid damage. (Actually a guillotine choke, leaving this description because it's funny.)

Rolling Kick
66P+G
Gamon 66p+g.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
66P+G - - - - - - - -

Low damage, leaves you really far from the opponent with good frame advantage. Super afterwards is not a terrible idea.

Trash Throw
1P+G
Gamon 1p+g.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block
1P+G - - - - - - - -

Interesting throw. Does the lowest damage of any of Gamon's grabs on its own, but guarantees a 1PK afterwards. The damage of the followup effectively makes this his highest damage throw, and the one you should be going for most of the time.

Super Attacks

66P+K+G P+K+G
Gamon 66p+k+g p+k+g.gif
Input Damage Startup Active Recovery Guard Break On Hit On Block

Very average super, cool looking animation though. Will connect after a counterhit 236~K for unparryable damage, though it can be avoided with a perfectly timed tech roll.

Standard super followup, not notable.
