The HUD
Explanation
- Health
- The player's health bar. If it reaches 0, you lose a stock. If your health bar is flashing (something called being in lethal in LLB jargon), that means the ball will kill you if it hits you.
- Special meter
- A bar divided into four quadrants. A normal swing will build one stock of meter, swinging a ball in the bunted state (i.e. when it's surrounded by a purple outline) will build two stocks of meter.
- Stock count
- In Super Smash Brothers terms, this is the number of lives remaining for the character concerned. It can also be considered a form of round/burst count in more typical fighting game terms.
- Hitstop release gauge
- A meter that gradually fills up while the ball is in hitstop. When the meter is full, hitstop ends and the ball will launch again. This time is decreased when the ball is bunted and hit, or hit with a charged swing.
- Ball speed
- A numerical value indicative of the current ball's speed. The higher the number, the faster it goes and the more damage it does. At 120 speed, the ball will kill you from full health.
