Disclaimer: Combos are written by various writers, so notation may differ slightly from this notation.

N+M Buttons "N" and "M" must be input simultaneously.
N/M Input "N" or "M" can be used.
dl.N There should be delay before inputting "X".
w.N Attack "N" should whiff and not hit the opponent.
j.N Button "N" is input while jumping or in the air.
dj.N Button "N" is input after a double jump.
jc Jump cancel the previous action. Usually will be omitted due to being obvious.
md.N Perform a micro-dash before performing "N".
IAD Perform an Instant Air Dash (mechanic), which is performed by inputting S (Power Charge) in the air. Not to be confused with the traditional input of 956.
TK.N Indicates the motion "N" is input immediately after leaving the ground. Stands for tiger knee.
(N) Input "N" is optional. Typically the combo will be easier if omitted.
[N] Input "N" is held down. Also can be known as "Increase" or "IC" for short. Depending on the character, this can indicate that this button is held down and not released until indicated by the release notation.
]N[ Input "N" is released. Will only appear if a button is previously held down.
{X} Button "X" should only be held down briefly to partially charge the attack, instead of the full increased version.
N(#) Attack "N" should only hit # of times.
N~M This notation has two meanings.
  1. Use attack "N" with "M" follow-up input.
  2. Input "N" then within a few frames, input "M". Usually used for option selects.
CH The first attack must be Counter Hit.
FC The first attack must be Fatal Counter.
SB Perform StarBurst, which is performed by inputting X+Y during a combo or in neutral.
DHC Perform a tag-in super, which is performed by inputting (T1/T2 + A/B/C).
Snapback Perform a snapback, which is performed by inputting (T1/T2 + X).
