Controls

Theater of Light is a Roblox game, and uses WASD for movement. Jumping, however, is disabled in this game, though some characters may still have ways to get into the air and use aerial moves.

There are 4 different attack buttons in total: Attack (ATK), Skill 1 (S1), Skill 2 (S2) and Special (SP). Additionally, Dashing is not bounded to double-tap inputs but rather a dedicated button.

Unlike most games you might find on this wiki, Theater of Light does not use Numpad Notation often, due to its nature as a 3-dimensional arena fighter and the fact that the camera can be positioned at any angle not restricted to the opponent or the 8 cardinal directions. However, certain information resources such as combo notation may still use numpad notation to indicate what movement input you need to be pressing during the combo sequence. For cases such as this, notation will be presented assuming you are facing forward using Shift-lock.

Movement

Shift-lock
Left Shift

Shift-lock is a universal feature across many Roblox games. Pressing Left Shift on your keyboard will cause the camera to offset itself slightly, centering over your character's shoulder, and causing your character to always face forwards towards the camera. Additionally, moving the camera while Shift-locked does not require you to right-click with the mouse, making camera movement more responsive.

Walking
8 or 4 or 2 or 6 (WASD)

Causes the character to walk in the input direction. You can walk diagonally by pressing multiple directions at once.

Dashing
Any direction + Dash

Causes the character to dash in the movement direction. You cannot dash diagonally. Attempting to dash with multiple directions held will cause the dash to prioritize the input that was pressed first.
Dashing without pressing a movement direction will result in a forward dash. If you are not Shift-locked, dashing will always travel in the character's facing direction.

Attacks

Attack Buttons
The attack buttons are as follows:
  • ATK: A basic attack. Often does not cost Light, allowing it to be used in a variety of situations.
  • S1 and S2: Basic special moves.
  • SP: A highly unique move, often tied to the character's special mechanics or important to their gameplan. Can uniquely be cancelled into from any move at any time, with few exceptions.

Unique Moves

Many characters have unique moves tied to pressing certain attack buttons after or during other moves. An example would be Samurai's Slay, inputted via ATK > ATK, or Charger's Energy Discharge, which is inputted via S2 > S1 HOLD (holding S1 during the startup of S2). Refer to your character's Movelist for more details on their moves.
