Story
Yan Yanyang is a wild child who can communicate with nature. She doesn't have a wish for the Twinkle Star; she only partook in the race for it to prove her strength. In the sequel, she continues to look for the artifact to wish for a taller and stronger body. She wants to use this new form to ride a larger pigbird.
Gameplay Overview
A very aggressive character. Twinkle Star Sprites very own rushdown character. Her EX can be a noob killer because it has a weird flight path, but even if you know how to dodge her EX, she has one of the most effective bosses of the game.

Strategy
Yan's a character who has to be played somewhat defensively due to her lack of speed. You need to be aware of what's going on around you and anticipate attacks to properly avoid getting hit. Take advantage of the fact that you move faster diagonally than horizontally/vertically.
She also has an incredibly fast charge time, so being able to reactively charge and deal with things is a skill to hone. The charge shot especially comes in handy when facing bosses. You can start charging when it's summoned and fire off a blast as soon as the boss can be hit. Getting 2-3 charge shots in on a boss shouldn't be too difficult, and you can rapid fire regular shots if you need to still do more damage beyond that.In addition to being fast, her charge shot covers a wide range, so it can catch many fireballs at once.
There are two schools of thought on how to use Yan's meter: EX attack and Boss attack. While some characters have an obvious choice here, it's not as cut-and-dry for Yan. Neither attack sucks nor is either so amazing that it has to be the one used. Her EX attack can be somewhat of a knowledge check, as newer players especially find it difficult to avoid. If you are up against someone more experienced, it becomes less effective, and you may be better saving up for the boss. Yan's boss attack can still catch even veteran players at time due to have decent attacks and a very awkward exit pattern. Yan's Lv.2 can be effective use of meter if your opponent is either stunned or at the bottom of the screen. You can even screenwatch/predict formations and wait till your opponent has a formation that forces them to the bottom of the screen.
Anytime you can apply pressure, go for it. You want to KO your opponent before Death because the longer the match goes, the worse the situation becomes for you. Death will eventually out-speed Yan while your opponent will likely still be fine.
