Intro

Bionicle: Kanohi Klash is a fan-made 2D fighting game by Bel Games (Bel) based on Lego's Bionicle line of construction toys. It is based in the IKEMEN Go engine and is being (somewhat) regularly updated. As of version 0.3, the game only has two characters, Tahu and Gali, with several more on the way.

Summary

  • 6-button footsies game: Kanohi Klash uses the same familiar button layout as Street Fighter and generally plays like a combination of different titles from that series, with a strong emphasis on poking, strike/throw mixups and shorter combos. The average damage output is fashioned after Ultra Street Fighter IV, and many of the systems are modelled after 3rd Strike. However, unlike most Street Fighter games, juggling is incredibly powerful, as almost any move can juggle as long as it connects with an opponent who is being knocked back (not unlike Akatsuki Blitzkampf) and with meter it's not especially hard to KO an opponent off of two or three interactions. Additionally, there is a universal "hop" mechanic akin to some of SNK's fighters, adding another layer to the standard neutral game.
  • Mask powers: The titular Kanohi masks give each character their own unique metered ability with its own cooldown/regeneration time, not dissimilar to Injustice's Trait system.
