Legato

Overview

Legato is a Shoto, with a good fireball, high hitting DP, and has very high damage output thanks to his supers. He is much more suited for aggressive gameplay styles, he can capitalize off bulldozing through any situation he can find himself in, then start his offense. Even when he has a strong close range game, fireball and DP combined also make it very difficult to approach him, solidifying his placement as a Shoto, fit for many playstyles.

On the slower side of light attacks.

Unlike 5L, very fast to come out, hits twice, and has a long reach. Good poke if you can consistently WJF.

Slow, but far reaching and heavy hitting 5M. You can't combo into much at the tip of the attack, so you'll need to dash cancel if you want a confirm.

Light Punch

Uninteresting 2L, pretty fast, average. Has enough hitstun to link into its self, but there's no real need for that when you have 2LL

Weird 2M, a few frames faster than 2L and does more damage. This move oddly has VERY little pushback and high hitstun, allowing 2LL to combo into 2L a maximum of 5 times from point blank. This is good for setting gravity during certain combos, as you can easily manipulate how much gravity you want to apply before you 2H.

Average 2H Anti-Air and launcher. Damage isn't particularly high, and the hitbox is a little horizontally lacking.

Standard Throw. Sets up for a pretty easy meaty fireball.

Average j.L. Short enough recovery to do any other air move if done right after leaving the ground.

j.M. Basically j.L but sends at a lower angle. Can j.M > j.L after 2H.

Very big sword slash, and covers a large portion of the screen while done moving or rising. Also has alot of hitstun, causes a bounce on air hit and is your prime IAD tool. When done low to the ground, the effect will still show but Legato will stop and become immediately actionable, giving it strong mixup between IAD j.H/j.Hw (land) 2L. Press this alot.

Just a really good projectile. Since fullscreen in Vita is still relatively close, it takes little time for the projectile to actually hit. Does decent damage and is dash cancellable too. Using it as a meaty is also very good, since you can do very high damage from it as a starter.

DP that goes very high up. Invul, pairing this with 5S's low recovery gives Legato a very strong zoning game. Also deals quite some damage. Can link into 2L in the corner

A weird flying kick. Whiffs at point blank, Technically goes fullscreen, it stops short but Legato is actionable almost instantly when he touches the ground. Has low enough recovery to link 2L after it hits. Pretty good at closing a gap.

Sweep

Slow-ish sweep. Hitting sweep doesn't really net you much reward midscreen. Your best use without meter is 2S > 4S/5S into meaty 5S.

Cannot be dash cancelled. Big, disjointed, jump in normal. Hits twice and is very fast. Mix this in with j.H.

Very short cinematic freeze, and starts up very fast post freeze. Hitbox is also very large vertically. Interestingly, is very prone to restanding on only the second hit. Damage wise, 22EX is better, but, in Legato's favor, if you have 4 bars, you can link into 22EX.

Pretty long cinematic freeze, and has noticeable startup post freeze. Hitbox is also very large vertically. Legato's main combo ender and does more damage than 5EX, at the cost of not moving forward and having less horizontal coverage. If you have 4 bars, you can link into 5EX.
