A rotund Arab man armed with a big scimitar.
Gameplay
Widely considered the best character, Avu has it all: fast long range sword strikes, very dangerous specials, and a beautiful beard.

Weaknesses

- Arabian Drill is the best move in the entire game: extremely fast, goes almost full screen, plus on both hit and block, and can "combo" into a throw on block.
- 5L is one of the best normals in the entire game, very quick and long reaching low that can easily stuff approaches and pressure defenders.
- Can still fight well enough even without a weapon.
|
- Poor anti-air normals, which get even worse without a weapon.
- Arabian Burner can anti-air and destroy most projectiles, but it will more often than not leave you wide open for a while.
- Avu's sword gives opponents the most range out of all weapons.

Strategy
5L, Arabian Drill, throw. Those three moves are all you need.
...Until the opponent gets wise and jumps at you, Avu hates that. His anti-airs and air-to-airs are narrow, barely active, and usually take a while to recover. If you're lucky, you can get them on the way down with a risky Arabian Burner, which will knock them down, allowing you to set up an Arabian Drill to throw "combo".
...Unless the opponent is wise and intentionally takes the last hit of Drill to be pushed out of range of your throw, but even in that case, they still had to take some damage, and you've still got the advantage. You could do whatever you want: start charging another Drill right away, or pressure them with some normals, or a jump attack.
Even in the worst case scenario of losing your weapon, you can always Drill your way to victory.
