Kamineko ( "Biting Cat" in Japanese) is a cute gray cat that Sakaki occasionally sees on the way to and from school. Having a great soft spot for cats, Sakaki tries to pet it, but it ends up latching its huge, beartrap-like teeth onto her hand. This becomes one of the series' biggest running gags. Kamineko seems to bear Sakaki strong malice, and at one point attempts to rally an entire neighborhood's worth of cats to attack her. Tomo has somehow managed to get her hands on a plush version of Kamineko, complete with bear trap teeth.
Overview
Playstyle
Kamineko is a cat.
Pick if you like
Avoid if you dislike
Boss Character - As an unlockable boss character, Kamineko is relatively powerful at a base level when compared to the non-boss characters.
Fast Movement - Kamineko runs incredibly fast, maintains that momentum in its jumps, and has a wide superjump arc. His attacks, both normal and special, also advance it quite a bit.
Small Hurtbox - Kamineko is a little cat. Just a little guy. He is small. A lot of attacks will flat out whiff against him.
Incredible Normals - Despite its small stature, Kamineko’s has size where it counts with normals that are relatively sizable and hit opponents from surprising distances.
Great Meter-Damage Value - In addition to being able to easily end already high damage combos with 1211 Shiki - Nya Otome for even more damage, Kamineko's Outburst allows for easy infinites and stun off any hit.
Monstrous Pressure - Kamineko’s buttons are fast and chain together incredibly well. Combine that with his small size allowing for easy instant overheads and, with meter, your opponent is left guessing for their life on your offense. This can be further amplified by using his Outburst.
Mean Cats - Kamineko bit Sakaki many times over the course of Azumanga Daioh, making it a very mean cat.
Zero Move Variety - In addition to only having two special input moves, Kamineko’s normals are the same standing or crouching.
Getting jumped in your arcade's parking lot - If you pick this character, someone is going to break your legs and you need to be prepared for that.
Character Traits
Unique Attributes
Kamineko is small. The smallest character in the game. Its small hurtbox means that many attacks will naturally whiff against Kamineko.
Lacks crouching normals. His crouch (only pauses the idle animation) low-profiles a few grabs.
Outburst
Same insanity as the original V-ism in a much smaller package
Kamineko's Outburst is an afterimage install. While the Outburst timer is active, every move that Kamineko does will have a delayed second hit from the afterimage.
Think "Sei-ei Enbu" from Street Fighter III, or "V-ism" from Street Fighter Alpha 3. In addition to this, in Outburst, Kamineko's defense is doubled.
