Training Mode

Introduction

Meet Wobbuffet, the patient Pokemon fitted out with an arsenal of abilities tuned specifically to help you train.

Training Mode controls are bound to actions D, E, and F. By default, these actions are mapped to:

Default Keys
Action Key
D U
E I
F O

State

D controls Wobbuffet's state. Each time you press D, you move to the next state. The states can be cycled through in the following order:

  • Auto-Block (Blocks for a brief period after hitstun ends)
  • Stand
  • Block
  • Jump Up
  • Jump Forward
  • Jump Back
  • Walk Forward
  • Walk Back & Block

Jump Up, Jump Forward, and Jump Back will Block for the frames Wobbuffet is on the ground.

Actions

E controls Wobbuffet's actions. Each time you press E, you move to the next action. Each E state has a grounded and air attack. Wobb will only use Air Attacks when set to Jump.

The states can be cycled through in the following order:

  • Grounded Jab; Air Kick
  • Slow Grounded Attack; Slow Air Overhead
  • Fireball; Diagonal Air Fireball
  • Uppercut; Dive Kick
  • Parry

The Slow Grounded Attack has a large amount of startup, ideal for practicing counterhits. The Slow Air Overhead also has a lot of startup, and is similar to Blaziken's jB. Fireballs will travel at varying speeds, either the same as Blaziken's or Toxicroak's. Air Fireballs will travel barying distances, similar to Mienshao's Swift. The Uppercut is invincible on startup and during the initial active frames. Wobbuffet will also counter with the Parry Attack, and won't use Parry Dashes.

Wobbuffet will time his jump attacks differently on each jump, to help you practice reactions. Grounded attacks do not have random timing variance.

Conditions

F controls conditions for Wobbuffet using his attack. Currently, you can toggle through conditions in this order:

  • Do attack always.
  • Do attack on wake-up.
  • Do attack on wake-up, after a back roll.
  • Do attack after hitstun ends.
  • Do attack after blockstun ends.

If Wobbuffet is set to do a Jumping Attack while a do on/after condition is enabled, he will instead idle and only use the jump after meeting that condition.

Guard

Pressing Down + E will cycle Wobbuffet through the different Guard Healths. This will also heal you, if you've taken damage from Wobb. You can cycle through the Guard Health states in the following order:

  • 10 - Mienshao, Toxicroak, Zapdos
  • 12 - Blaziken, Primeape
  • 13 - Poliwrath
  • 14 - Bewear, Heracross, Falinks, Scrafty
  • 15 - Great Tusk
  • 16 - Chesnaught

Other Info

  • In order to exit training mode and return to the main menu, press pause (defaulted to esc) and then A+B+C (defaulted to J+K+L) simultaneously.
  • Down + F immediately refills your meter and Wobb's health.
  • Wobbuffet has 44 health
  • In Auto-Block mode, Wobbuffet will block the next hit after he leaves hitstun or wakes up. Wobbuffet will continue blocking until the moves you use are no longer a blockstring.
  • For Toxicroak, a sweep (3A) will remove Poison from Wobbuffet. You can also use Parry to remove Poison as normal.
  • 246F can be input while standing close to the opponent in VS mode to get a similar heal as 2F in Training Mode.
