General Questions

Q: What does the tier list for this game look like?

A: This tier list is based on the opinion of Sleepmode.

Keep in mind that the gaps between tiers are very small. This game is honestly pretty balanced, mostly due to the fact that every character is strong in their own ways, and all are equally capable of explosive damage.

S Tier: Huang Zhong, Xiahou Dun, Wei Yan
A Tier: Xu Chu, Lu Meng, Zhao Yun
B Tier: Zhang Jiao, Huang Gai
C Tier: Xiahou Yuan, Zhang Fei

Q: Does this game have netplay?

A: Unfortunately, no. This game released on Steam in a very barebones manner, and while the developers expressed interest in adding online play, development support was cut short towards the end of 2017. However, netplay is still possible through screen-sharing applications such as Parsec.

Q: Are there any differences between Steam Edition and the arcade version?

A: The arcade version of Chaos Generation allowed players to select from one of three different Fighting Modes -- Attack Mode (which enabled a different kind of MAX Mode that increased damage temporarily), Combo Mode (which enabled Air Burst and aerial chains) and Defend Mode (which enabled parries). When it came time to port the game to Steam, however, the developers decided to remove the Fighting Mode selection in favour of just having one universal set of mechanics, with the functionality of all three Fighting Modes being available under different circumstances.

Technical Questions

Q: Why does my game keep hanging when I try to boot it up?

The short answer is that it's not actually hanging. Due to Chaos Generation being a port of an arcade game -- and a very poorly-optimised one, at that -- the game quite genuinely can take anywhere between three to five minutes just to complete its startup sequence. You just have to be patient.

Q: My controls don't work!

A: This game's native controller support assumes that two sets of controls are coming from one input device, which is not the case for pretty much everyone. Your best bet is to map your controller buttons to key bindings with a program like AntiMicro. Remember to keep your controller disconnected until the game has fully loaded, so as to prevent annoying input overlapping.
