Introduction

If you were a smart contestant, you would know that I outrun you in terms of Kungfu.

Xiahou Dun is, for all intents and purposes, the main character of Chaos Generation. There is basically zero information to back this up other than the fact that he's in the attract mode demo cutscene, but that's probably good enough.
Xiahou Dun is one of the most uniquely-constructed characters in Chaos Generation. With a massive array of special moves and target combos at his disposal, his design feels perhaps more inspired by Tekken than by Street Fighter or The King of Fighters. This means that he lacks many of the long-range tools that one would expect from a largely very traditional 2D fighting game, but this is by no means a significant weakness for him. With excellent movement speed and plenty of ways to advance on the opponent from both the ground and the air, Xiahou Dun is able to close the distance from multiple angles and begin enforcing his brutal close-range offence, laden with tick throws, frame traps and unreactable high/low mixups. While he can struggle somewhat against players willing to patiently wall him out, Xiahou Dun getting in is less a matter of "if" and more a matter of "when", and when it happens, he makes it hurt thanks to devastating combo potential, even by the standards of Chaos Generation.

Pros Cons
  • Incredible Normals: Xiahou Dun has some fantastic normals for every purpose he could find need for; anti-air, grounded pressure and everything in between is covered and then some.
  • Close Range Toolbox: Xiahou Dun not only has very strong tools, he also has a lot of them, with much of his kit geared towards brutal close-range offence and mixup, though he isn't lacking in approach options.
  • Combo Master: In a game where every character is capable of ridiculous combos thanks to MAX Mode and generous juggle properties, Xiahou Dun has some of the most consistent and powerful combos in the game, all of which convert into either a MAX Mode combo or to his Eye of the Wolf Revenge Attack, which also acts as a second MAX Mode of sorts.
  • Middling Long Range Presence: While he's got plenty of approach options that can keep people honest, Xiahou Dun can be walled out by players who are willing to wait out his attempts to barrel in with those appraoch tools and keep him out of his most effective range.
