Story

Wagner is the strongest sword in Licht Kreis--and proud of it.

She was dispatched to this area, where her acquaintance Orie resides, under orders to learn valuable lessons outside of combat.
After resolving the Amnesia affair with her overwhelming strength, she noticed that an ominous energy still permeated the land... An energy that meant there was another battle yet ahead.
Her hunch soon proved true with Kuon the Aeon's incursion. Her mission? To destroy Kuon, even if it costs her own life.

Wagner draws her sword once again to prove her worth to Licht Kreis and its leader Adelheid.

I am the blazing storm, raging incandescence itself,
the fire of death that scorches the earth and chars the very heavens!

Gameplay

The queen of honest mids is back, after having taken a bit of a break in CLR. Retaining her excellent normals, high speed, good damage, and strong strike throw mixups, she has some new tricks on both offense and defense. A well rounded character with a penchant for getting in your opponents face and snowballing, Wagner is your character if you like punishing, up close offense with high reward.


Strengths Weaknesses
  • Great Installs: Good damage and conversions with Sword install (22A). With Shield install (22B), her new guardpoint moves can blow through loose pressure strings. Buffs cause her weapon normals to deal chip damage, and having both buffs before using 22C inflicts a damage over time debuff.
  • Combos and Conversions: Wagner has consistently high damage and great conversions, particularly when installed. Notably, she gets to combo off her throw with the Sword install.
  • Simple and Strong Neutral: 5B/66FF/6B dominate the spaces they cover against most of the cast. Her 236A is both fast (10f) and covers a huge amount of horizontal space, with a surprising amount of vertical coverage. Her backdash is on par with Hyde's in terms of overall speed.
  • Special Cancels: Specials can cancel into each other to prevent the opponent from having room to breathe or attempt a punish.
  • Defense: As previously stated thanks to her strong abare and guardpoints, she also has a very good, 6F reversal (623B) that leads into insane damage when combined with Vorpal and meter. Notably, her EX reversal (623C) is one of the fastest reversals in the game.
  • Gap Closer: Wagner thrives in the midrange and up close. However, she does not have a projectile or otherwise fullscreen option aside from her movement tools.

Can be used as an anti-air, but 3C is much more reliable and easier to convert off of.

Wagner does a two-hit slash with her sword. This move is incredible. It hits twice which gives plenty of time to hitconfirm into 5C, 5[C], or 6C. It's exceptionally fast for the range it covers and synergizes very well with Wagner's quick backdash. 6B is her most useful confirm tool as using it early gives her a launch and combos starting with 6B deal high damage. Its only real downside is its whiff recovery, but who whiffs a normal this big anyway?

Wagner does a backhand shield slap. A powerful move that is very easy to confirm off of. Exceptionally useful all around: frame traps, linking specials during pressure, setting up spacing traps, and adding damage to combos. Can be used as a mixup between itself and its charged version by partially charging and cancelling into 2AB. Said mixup is not particularly rewarding on normal hit but can catch high Shield attempts for a GRD break.

  • CVO cancel is treated the same as EX cancel; you can only CVO when you can EX and the opponent is in hit/blockstun.

  • Requires at least 100 meter and consumes Vorpal state and drains meter at a fast rate.
  • Has a lot of hitstun, making it easy to combo from.
  • Allows for an additional bounce in the combo if two have been used so far, without hitting the combo bounce limit.
  • Pressing A+B+C can be used for a shortcut for Infinite Worth.
  • Used mostly as a way to tack on extra damage, or to reliably close out the round.

  • If Wagner already has one Enhance active, she will also receive the other.
  • 22C's damage scales with buffs: 1 buff active will deal 1576, both will deal 1658.
    • If Wagner has both installs, 22C will instead consume them to inflict a unique "burn" effect on the opponent on hit.
    • The burn effect will inflict up to 950 damage over time, varying with Wagner's proximity to the opponent.
  • 22C has unlimited untech if Wagner has one buff, allowing her to combo after it.
