General Gameplan
Get in, stay in, don't let them breathe. Wagner thrives when she's close to the opponent or spaced out to 6B range.
Neutral
Wagner is fast. Very fast. Her dash speed, advancing special moves, and dash attacks are what give her an edge in neutral over characters with longer reaching normals and projectiles.

Keep Away
Good one. Wagner doesn't have traditional keep away options. Instead, she can use buffs to encourage opponents to approach her, making her job easier.

Defense
How to defend against, break, or escape pressure. Blocking and Shielding are typically the safest option but it's important to know how (and when) to challenge opponents who overextend.
Abare Options
- 2A - Long reaching, low-hitting 5f light normal.
- 5B - Standout normal in terms of both range and speed. Very big for a 7f.
- 2C - Big 9f low, wins trades due to being a sweep.
- 3C - Wagner's normal attack anti-air. 9f startup and head invulnerable from frames 7-11.
- Shield Install 214X/FF - 7f armor, loses to lows. FF is particualrly rewarding if charged.
- Backdash -
Reversal Tools
Tools that are invincible, strong, or fast at getting out of pressure/okizeme. All carry high risk, as they are highly negative and have counter hit recovery.
- 623A - Only has head and dive invulnerability at startup, but can be cancelled into j.236C to steal a turn or reset back to neutral.
- 623B - A fully invulnerable reversal. Very unsafe on block, so don't be too predictable with this.
- 623C - One of the fastest C reversals in the game at 5 frames.
- Veil Off - Universal reversal option. Will GRD break the opponent on a successful hit and works well as an option select. Very punishable on block.
- 41236D - IW. Not as much of a Hail Mary as IWEXS, but very risky nonetheless. Has enough knockdown advantage for Wagner to stock both buffs safely. Extremely punishable on block.
- IWEXS - Hail Mary. Might accidentally come out while trying to do a VO option select. Don't let this get blocked.
Option Selects
Inputs that cover multiple situations. Usually the lowest risk options, but not without counterplay.
- 3C~AD - Anti-Air option select. Press 3B and then quickly press AD or plink the inputs from B to A to D. Will tech a throw if performed correctly and will throw out 3B if the opponent does something else. Loses to frame traps.
- 2A~D - 2A throw tech option select. Loses to assault, but Wagner's 2A is much faster than her 3C.
- 4AB~D - Backdash option select. Can be done by quickly pressing D after a backdash. If properly done, Wagner will tech a throw or backdash if the opponent does not go for a throw. Wagner's fast backdash makes this a great option.
- ABCD - VO option select. If the opponent tries to throw, you will tech it. If they do something else, VO comes out. Arguably the easiest option select in the game, so consider using it every once in a while. Be cautions when using it at below 30% HP and with 200 meter, as the slowe IWEXS will come out instead.
