Overview

Finn makes his first appearance in the Jump Jousts series being very similar to Stick Fighter 's Sticky Steve, sharing his 6A and 4A. These tools have been slowed down from their appearance in that game, but Finn has received other interesting tools to compensate such as his projectiles and 5A. Overall Finn is a unique addition to the game.

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Anti-Zoning: Finn's very large jumps and Bullet Break on 6A allow him to stuff full-screen threats or generally punish commitment.
  • Projectiles: With his unique angled projectiles, Finn can set up situations where his projectiles are more difficult to avoid than others.
  • Difficult Approach: Due to the slow startup of his 6A, it is relatively easy to beat reactively with certain options, making it somewhat difficult for him to make up a life deficit.

Move List

Normals

5A
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
1 - - - - - Bullet Break (Both Hits), Spinstun (Both Hits)

Finn swings his sword twice. The large hitbox of the first hit makes it a strong tool for stuffing approaches and the spinstun on the second can be comboed off of good damage. Bulletbreak has niche anti-projectile utility.

6A
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
1 - - - - - Bullet Break

A superman punch which sends Finn flying across the screen. Good for beating projectiles and other full-screen commitments, but can be stuffed on reaction relatively easily in many matchups.

4A
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
1 - - - - - -

A decent advancing poke and whiff punish. Incredibly disjointed hitbox lets it beat many options.

Metered

Special (1 Bar)
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
1 - - - - - ?f Lifespan

Finn throws Lumpy Space Princess at a relatively wide angle, which can cover more horizontal jump arcs well.

Air Special (1 Bar)
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
1 - - - - - ?f Lifespan

Finn throws Ice King's Crown at a relatively steep angle. While having less overall utility in neutral, this angle can be used to beat some Bullet Breaks and can generally be difficult to avoid for many characters when cornered.

Super (4 Bars)
Damage Startup Active Landing Lag Magnitude Angle Misc.
3 - - - - - Invuln 1-?, ?f Lifespan

Finn does a large arching sword swing which covers space and deals damage. Fires a projectile which goes across half the screen, but a very middling super overall.

Strategy

Composition

Finn is generally run as a Point character who aims to push the opponent to corner allowing his likely better anchor to shine.
