Introduction

Kamen Rider Ibuki

Kamen Rider Ibuki is a gun-toting trumpet-tooting oni.

Pros Cons
  • Unscaled Fullscreen Combos: For some reason, Ibuki's 5H projectile is unaffected by damage scaling, and is very easily repeatable with RC, even more so during Assault Mode where the RC doesn't cost anything. He really hurts.
  • Rider Gauge Domination: Ibuki has access to Assault Mode's quick charge to gain a ton of meter, as well as a special move that drains the opponent's Rider Gauge.
  • Limited Normals: Many of Ibuki's striking normals are on the slow side, and he doesn't have a ton of useful strings up close.
  • Defense: Ibuki is difficult to pin down, but if he finds himself without Rider Gauge and low on Guard Gauge, he's in trouble.

Special Moves

5S
Oniishi Resonance
5S

- Y - - - - -

Ibuki toots his horn and projects a cone of sound in front of him. Has a lot of active frames and a ton of hitstun on top of being difficult to get around. Drains one stock of Rider Gauge on hit. Pretty useful for hitting the opponent as they try to approach, or as a meaty after a corner throw.

DS

Ibuki poses, and whips up a tornado that attaches to him for a set duration. During this buff, all of his shots will remove red health.

JS
Oniishi Shot (Air)
jS

Ibuki bounces backward in the air and fires an explosive shot. Deals a lot of damage and can be followed up by 5L or 5H if done extremely low to the ground.

Universal Mechanics

Throw
Throw
4H

Ibuki's throw. Has quite a lot of advantage afterwards, so if you're near the corner, you can meaty with 5S, which hits late enough that Ibuki can link afterwards on hit.

Dash Action
Dash Action
Dash Shot
Dash Shot

- Y - - - - -

A generic Dash Shot type Dash Action. Costs .5 stocks of the Rider Gauge and can chain into itself up to 3 shots. Dash Shot tracks the opponent's position when firing, including vertically, so although these shots aren't homing, they can be used to snipe the opponent out of the air.

Rider Art

Dodge Shot

Standard Dodge Shot type Rider Art. Ibuki backdashes with full invulnerability and fires one shot directly forward. Costs 1 stock of the Rider Gauge.

Style Action
Style Action
Assault Mode
Assault Mode

- Y - - - - -

Ibuki uses the Assault Style. Pressing Style Action with at least two stocks of Rider Gauge at any time besides during hitstun activates Assault Mode.

During Assault Mode, Ibuki gains the following extended strings:

  • 5LLLLL
  • 5LHH

Combos

  • 2L/2H > 5LHS
Standard link combos. 2L is pretty slow, and 2H is unlikely to hit at point-blank range. As such, these are mostly useful against an opponent who's already cornered, or from a RC starter. It's also possible to link these normals into Rider Finale.
  • DA > DA > DA > 5LHS
Dash Action starter. Running towards the opponent while firing at them can be a useful whiff punisher. If you reach the opponent early, you must stop running and go to neutral early in order to end the Dash Action's recovery.
  • 6LH > RC > 2L > 5LHS
  • 6LL > RC > 2LHS
6L has two fairly good chain options. These combos end in a Quick Charge, building more meter than they spend.
  • 5H > Style Action > [5H > RC] repeat xN > 5LHS
  • 5H > Style Action > [5H > RC] repeat xN > 5S
5H loop combos. When the Rider Gauge fully empties from Assault Mode activation, it's possible to end in 5LHS Quick Charge for one stock of Rider Gauge, or 5S to burn the opponent's red life.
With full Rider Gauge, this easily does enough damage to 100% the opponent. Bursting out is also difficult since Assault Mode activation allows free RCs.
