Trainers everywhere have been receiving a mysterious letter, beckoning them to challenge The Path of the Fist. While the motives and message behind this unsigned missive are unclear, one thing is certain - many have set upon the Path already, with a distant rumbling of thunder their only herald. It is all too likely you have received the letter as well. Will you conquer these trials, or break upon the Path? After a hefty training routine on the Isle of Armor, many participants in Close Combat matches have reported that their Pokémon seem to block attacks more effectively. In fact, guard damage is lower across the board. This should mean guard breaks will be a less common sight in regulation matches, but that doesn't mean you can forget about them completely! In particular, you might want to watch out for the combatant mentioned below... Battlers who specialize in Heracross training have been employing new strategies, and while the changes may not be as dramatic as previous revamped training methods, we're eager to see trainers spread their wings and fly with the new Heracross Rework!

The First Official Close Combat Tournament continues! The second round has started, with September 29th as the next deadline. Replays can be posted here if you want a record of your battles to be preserved! In an announcement that has shocked Pokémon experts, the tournament organizers have claimed that the 1st and 2nd place winners will be allowed to choose a new color scheme for Falinks or Great Tusk, with the 1st place winner having first pick. The method and ethics of this are being hotly debated, with many suggesting a link to reports of missing Smeargles. The votes are in - the next fighter will be Galarian Zapdos! Unfortunately, the trainer we sent to capture it has been found in a comically person-shaped hole near a steep cliff face, and with an anvil dropped on them to boot. No worries - we'll have them back on their feet and in hot pursuit in no time, but this will take a little while. Check back here for updates periodically, as we may learn new information about our next combatant!

Great Tusk

A string of injured Pawmot has trainers all over Paldea looking for the culprit, said to be an abnormally large Donphan. Some more superstitious searchers, however, claim the perpetrator is not a Donphan at all, but something only heard of in stories and legends - a Pokémon referred to by the codename Great Tusk. We would like to remind readers that these so-called "Paradox Pokémon" have not been proven to exist...but it might be worth bringing a camera along, just in case.
