After a hefty training routine on the Isle of Armor, many participants in Close Combat matches have reported that their Pokémon seem to block attacks more effectively.  In fact, <big>'''guard damage is lower across the board.'''</big>  This should mean guard breaks will be a less common sight in regulation matches, but that doesn't mean you can forget about them completely!  In particular, you might want to watch out for the combatant mentioned below...
With guarding strategies having seen a major increase recently, it's speculated that trainers may have been getting a bit too cocky, as our Pokémon combatants have begun to adapt to these changes.  In particular, <big>'''guard health doesn't regenerate fully after a knockdown'''</big> anymore. Watch the skies for any fierce looking orange birds, especially if you've just been napping on the ground.

Trainers everywhere have been receiving a mysterious letter, beckoning them to challenge The Path of the Fist. While the motives and message behind this unsigned missive are unclear, one thing is certain - many have set upon the Path already, with a distant rumbling of thunder their only herald. It is all too likely you have received the letter as well. Will you conquer these trials, or break upon the Path? PKMNCC Path HomePage1.png

With guarding strategies having seen a major increase recently, it's speculated that trainers may have been getting a bit too cocky, as our Pokémon combatants have begun to adapt to these changes. In particular, guard health doesn't regenerate fully after a knockdown anymore. Watch the skies for any fierce looking orange birds, especially if you've just been napping on the ground.

Many Mienshao trainers have been arrested under suspicion of illegal combo usage, though all of them insist this is simply due to what they call a Mienshao Rework! Bewear trainers have been also been seen using some new techniques, including an entirely new move! We're hard at work getting the details on the new Bewear Rework as well.

The Second Official Close Combat Tournament is open for signups! This time around, there are actually two tournaments - one for our Unovan/Alolan trainers, and the other for...everywhere else. Unlike last time, these tournaments will be played live! Check the discord news channel for info on dates, times and which regions should participate in which tournament.

We don't have any information on who the next combatant might be yet, but check back at this spot every once in a while! Our erstwhile reporters will be sure to publish any news, rumors, or hints they might come across.

A New Combatant: G. Zapdos

G. Zapdos charges into battle! An oddly dressed stranger gave us a tip to try something called 'Gysahl Greens' to attract this reticent roadrunner, and it worked like a charm! While this fast feathered fighter may be flightless, it sure isn't fight-less - trainers have already begun to plot out some impressive aerial combos to terrifying results. Give the first community vote winner a try, and get ready to feel the thunder! (The Close Combat League is not liable for any injuries sustained due to dynamite explosions, fake tunnels painted on walls, or other shenanigans.)
